To all I hope you have a better new year this year rather than the one we just had. I also want to apologise for the use of the word electricians and all quote. Was below the belt. As there are some very clever electricians in this forum. I was in my mind looking at a blue pipe and from my...

Bonding of Water pipes (plastic incomes)

I'm seeing a problem with electrician's here. Why do we need a bond to any item. Lets get rid of all CPC its not needed for anything some nations don't use CPC. so why use it. RCD don't use CPC its a voltage difference. Do we use it for testing only. Its a copper bit of cable to mean...

Bonding of Water pipes (plastic incomes)

Wow! Bonding was an art form in the day. Curly swirls of pure waste of time. I myself was apart of it, but I also knew then some things made no sense as you do today. We where the same as you are today. To say No bonding is necessary is quite silly. The big issue is what happens when...

Use of cpc as functional earth in appliances

The problem with manufacturers is they do things on par with regs. Meaning its all written or those sneaky pictures showing the Earth type They will I am sure have used the picture of maybe Functional Earth. They are sneaky as most electricians don't read manuals very well unless you are the...

    Understanding faults/readings

Are you able to take a new feed to test what you have done. My point for help. The LED sensors (PIR) floods try to switch the switch side rather than the supply side. I have had this very same thing with triggering sensors. Good luck.

    Downstream RCD

I was Just thinking if you placed DB2 in the utility room on its own circuit within DB1 moving the new RCBO 40amp to feed new DB2 next to the Isolator. Not apart of the RCD split board circuits. Isolator - Feeds new RCBO. and x2 RCDs within DB1 I am assuming the protection...

    No earth on lighting circuit

I think you are reading to much into the sentences. My logic is new 18th edition when testing. see what has changed or is unsafe. Then make the report.

    No earth on lighting circuit

If the building was built in 16th edition you can not test it to the 18th edition. You can advise to the new editions rules to what applies today. Look at the last sentence beginning with the word 'You' can etc Says it all really quote new regs and what applies end off...
