Should the armour of an SWA carrying twin and earth cables also be earthed (with banjos etc)

? Seen a lot of evidence of burning without a life threatening house fire....that's not saying there haven't been any, though. I DO understand where you're coming from, though

Should the armour of an SWA carrying twin and earth cables also be earthed (with banjos etc)

With cable damage, the armour could become live. C2. Is there some damage to the left neutral core, copper showing?

What am I looking at? Steel CPC?

Just a point. Some of the comments I make are, as in the case above, intended to make the questioners/learners think for themselves, without giving them a full explanation. Most people can probably think for themselves, with a bit of cajoling, perhaps.;)

What am I looking at? Steel CPC?

Look below the Live terminal screw. If it tests well and proves to be in good enough condition, yes.

It's with regret I have to inform you, Christina (Sparkychick) has passed

So sorry, the one and only SC. We knew the situation but still a shock. I didn't expect her to succumb so quickly. Rest in Peace Christina, and condolences to all concerned.

    Earthing Armour with BS951 clamps?

Agree. Why does it? ........Unless it's a pee taking comment! And also agree about the bad practice. Sadly, seem to come across this more these days. It's not a solid earth connection.

Two core wiring with the same sleeve colour

For the OP. It is the norm for two (or all) blacks with one type of cable, and hence the 'belling out'/continuity as well as IR testing....pyro.

Two core wiring with the same sleeve colour

It’s available if required but it’s probably more a case of why carry another drum of cable just for the sake of switch wiring. I must admit I’ve hardly ever used it. Red/brown that is, not black/blue.:coldsweat:

    Amendment 3 2024, BS7671 2018.

Downloaded, but I'm not printing off 10 pages with hardly anything on them and stapling to the brown book (as told by latest assessor). Could print off pages required only, or just get the biro out. A numbered Amendment containing two definitions and reg change regarding operational direction of...

    England v Spain 2024 - whos watching?

We were favourites before the competition started. The 'softer' side of the draw came about fortunately, because of positions placed in the group phase. Best side won. I found the whole competition boring, generally. Too negative, these days. We could have played a few more extremely promising...

    Working by yourself

2 x 240mm 4 core sub mains through a factory would be a challenge. It took four of us, through walls, above spray booths and 90 degree ups downs and rounds at different levels. Jeez, making me feel sore. I've a bad back replacing a couple of 5ft fittings these days.

    UK IP 65/IP44

It's just a point and a suggestion to the OP. More than one way or a bit of thought, etc. Trying to provoke thinking, basically.

Yes, but does that mean 3 phase supplies via fuses are a no no, though? I still install them.
