Gulp.
It's only fair I post up my own EICR for this install.
It's a draft just ready for me to proof read later.
Why do I have the feeling I am throwing myself to the Wolves?
I've a concern over the shower actually - because there are obvious signs of heat damage at the connection to the shower and connections seemed very tight too. I wanted to cut back and re-terminate but there is no slack. Not ideal as I don't really want to have to extend inside the enclosure...
Quick update.
Spent much of the day there - and its only a 2 bed house. Such a mess though.
Previous EICR/EIC paperwork was no help at-all.
It was a bad board change too, tails not upgraded from 10mm, main earth is still 6mm and no bonding to water intake. Big holes, no grommet strip, cables not...
Quick update after a quick visit. Test kit stayed in the van. Client suggested himself that we should start again with a new EICR - which I'll do on Monday. Couldn't do it today.
Biggest cable in there is 4mm. Yes there is some aluminium in the light circuits at least. Shower is 9.5kW so that...
I also wondered if it's a shower pump. I tend to write down the kW rating of electric showers on the schedule of test results when I carry out inspections....
Soon find out - I'm on my way........
It's in my hands because the customer is quite rightly concerned by the quality of the report, and has a tenant who is not keen on the disruption of a full rewire (can you do it room by room without making a mess and within 3 days?).
So the landlord has lost faith in this electrician and is...
Hi All,
A top quality EICR report attached.
I'm detecting an increase in opportunists looking to scare the bejesus out of landlords in particular. This report is utter crap. Everything ticked or N/A on the inspection schedules to suggest all is satisfactory but then some belter C1's in...
Its actually a house move with buyer requesting an EICR. Seller still there. But you are right about it being a pita. As soon as I spotted it I informed the current owner what to (try) to do about it and then she spent the afternoon on the phone trying to sort it. Not good. Apparently the energy...
Code 2 is then. I think I softened on it when I realised it was never going to overload but yes there is only basic insulation at the connection to the meter. One for the experience bank that. Thank you.
Thanks for that - I think it has been installed by a meter installer. The 16mm is tinned copper as well, so it's been there a while. - a lot longer than the consumer unit
As above really. First time I have seen this but its basically 16mm twin and earth connected straight into the outgoing side of the meter, and into the consumer unit. Quality. Couldn't quite get a picture of the external MET but can confirm an additional cable has been added to bring the size of...
It’s the three reds together that’s your problem I think. Likely that one of those cableS coming out of the light you have replaced is feeding the other downlighters - so one of those three reds should also be with your switched live.
The wire strippers made by quick wire for their pre wired junction boxes are the end on type. For lighting really off course but I think they do up to 2.5mm.
