    Bathroom extractor fan switch query

As above. I nearly always install separate switches outside the bathroom including in my own house. It’s a good idea to have a timer fan to over - run for a while after the shower to clear that moisture away.

4mm cable into the bottom of main switch.

Sounds like you are inferring that a main switch and OCPD are one and the same?

4mm cable into the bottom of main switch.

Sorry - confused by the post - I think the question I'm asking is what exactly is upstream of that main switch - what goes into the top?

4mm cable into the bottom of main switch.

Watching with interest - what I can't follow is where this 4mm comes from. It must come from another db/ocpd?

Electrician Jobs Lounge lighting - solving poor lighting level

How about changing the E27’s for 100 watt equivalent LED (often around 11watts). They are very bright though so you will need a working dimmer. Change the dimmer to a decent programmable module - say Varilight. Alternatively, change the fitting for GU10 spots - say 3 on each fitting - so...

    Height of consumer units

I believe the idea with not installing lower than 1350mm is to prevent small inquisitive children from getting access to it and playing with the switches. I’ve read that somewhere. I think the 1350 is a good height if it can be achieved easily enough. Very high consumer units are not ideal...

    Used Rcbo's Yay or nay??

If it’s a square D - Domae range then a new Schneider Easy 9 RCBO will fit straight in and with manufacturers blessing.... I have been through this myself and it’s posted on here somewhere.....

BS951 Bonding Clamp on the Incoming Supply

Thanks all. Good advice I’m sure. I’m not sure if I’ve won this work yet, so I might now be able to update. The house is empty and being refurbished - so I’ll send an e-mail through to the developers and tell them who to call.....

BS951 Bonding Clamp on the Incoming Supply

Hi all, Just been to look at a job for a consumer unit changeout, checked the supply and, Not sure you can see it too well but TNS system with older earthing conductor in green kind of sweated onto intake (connection does not feel too good), but disconnected at the other end (goes into that...

    45A breaker max Zs values

Yes. As a rule of thumb. More accurate compensations for temperature differences can be seen in Guidance Note 3, though this is rarely needed unless your design is getting close to limits. The OP asked why 45A wasn't shown in the BBB, and these are the uncorrected values that everyone has...

    45A breaker max Zs values

Yes you do have to multiply the 5 by the 45 first.

    EICR ....I was amazed !

Fair enough. It’s kind of what I was trying to say. I just didn’t articulate it very well. At-all.

    Working at height..........

I agree with everyone else. My background is in working at height, so I’ve had a lot of training and the statistics are frightening, especially when it comes to ladders. Ladders are for light work and short durations only, and you definitely need a good and level ground surface. We probably...

    EICR ....I was amazed !

Agree with that - I’d carry out that complex ‘further investigation’ - and put a battery in!
