Unusual to have multiple phases in a domestic property, at least for basic lighting purposes? (my bold) Or do you mean multiple separate circuits fed from a single phase supply?
I came across a lovely couple who got totally ripped off by a number of trades, basically because they where gullible and very trusting of people. They were vulnerable and taken advantage of.
I helped them out and got things fixed or finished for as minimal cost to them as possible.
They were...
I mentioned this way way back during conversation with an inspector. He said though this is true they cannot be relied on for bonding purposes therefore the back boxes should have additional bonding.
Been in this situation a few times. There's always 2 sides to the story! Best thing is to find out what the crack is way before you commit to undertaking any work.
On one particular job I didn't take my own advice, only to get stung a fair way into the job - 4k's worth! Turned out the customer...
Though I don't disagree with bonding the box, I cant see how a buried boxed is classed as exposed? I think its a grey area, which is simply covered by over kill bonding that is simple to install & unobtrusive any how, so why not fit it.
Surely someone at the store would be responsible for signing off any work completed by a contractor? Though I guess it will be a case of "I'm sure its fine they are registered electricians" Store manager who can't be bothered to come out of his/her cosy office to have a quick look over work...
Correct, you wouldn't spec a combi boiler for multiple showers that are likely to be used simultaneously. A pressurized system boiler with suitably sized hot water storage tank is going to be more cost effective and better for the job.
This thread reminds me of a RCD intermitting trip fault I attended to a few years back. After an extensive inspection and test of the installation the problem turned out to be an extension lead that was plugged into a socket outlet supplying a bed side alarm clock. The extension lead had been...
I first read this "wind the garden parasols down" as in "wind" - weather, breeze... because of the context of the subject "windy". :D
oh... the oddities of the English language and dual purpose words!
Emulsion paint is not flammable at the sort of temperatures the can will experience. Without looking into it I don't think it would give of any toxic fumes either. The main concern would be that the warranty of the fitting could be affected. In addition to the advice offered thus far, if you...
1. Missing parts from new accessories
2. Instructions that don't make sense
3. Poor quality flat pack furniture
4. People who "know it all" but know nothing.
About 10 years ago I went out to a lighting fault on a rental property. When I got there I found an old wooden re-wireable fuse board, VIR cable..., The lighting fuse had blown. The cable looked in very poor condition so I decided to do a quick visual inspection throughout the property. There...
Is the motor DC or AC or universal? This can make a difference , a dimmer switch may not work well on an inductive load, though there are dimmers available which claim to work well on either resistive or inductive loads. There are relatively inexpensive speed controllers on the market that...
Cheers Tel, the company are just so brassed off with so many false alarms they have now lost police response because of it.
The current system is such a mish-mash how it operates and how it 's been wired. To be fair there are so many add-ons and alterations that when the engineers who currently...
Yes there are many things that could have been done to make a better job of it, like sinking in a box for the junction with maybe a blanking plate so at least it looks aesthetically in keeping. Why on earth you would tile it that way is beyond me, but hey oh..., looks like its one of those CBA...
