So the screen on my trusty MFT1552 has died....probably time to replace it anyway...Looking at the new Megger MFT17xx series, but interested to hear any thoughts on alternatives!
Or even better.....someone telling me that their 1552 did this, and it was a cheap fix! Unlikely though I guess!
Cheers
It was that close to the wall that the 'brick or something' encountered was likely the brick spread foundation. Try that on a new house and you'd simply strike concrete and go no further!
Just an observation. Glands I get are from same manf. Cw's have the smooth cone and slip ring plus nut, bw's the knurled cone and just a nut. Cw's more accomodating, in my opinion.
For reasons that I don't fully understand, for 10mm 3core especially, cw20l works nicely, but bw20l is very tight.
Found a similar scenario with 6mm, between 20l and 20s, but seems more variable depending on cable supplier.
It seems that cw glands often have the conical slip ring to clamp the...
Sounds like the existing room stat is still calling for heat and heating the 2 rads without evohome valves. Evohome working correctly does have boiler interlock via the rad valves and relay box. I'd guess the relay box is connected in parallel to old room stat. Try turning down room stat and it...
I was always under the impression that if you individually test L to E, and N to E, without joining them together, you basically do the same test, just without the hassle of having to use piggyback leads or disconnect stuff?
I suspect they are confusing warranty with your right to return within 14 days.
If you were to remove the plug and then damage it through incorrect connection, I suspect you'd be goosed.
Making a correct final connection to an appliance via an outlet plate, with supply fused down to the...
Ah...the plot thickens! Is there a source electrode for the genny?
Presumably it's a pole mount tx, and overhead supply to somewhere relatively close to the barn, final connection maybe underground to cutout if a recent conversion?
What's the physical layout of this site?
Just wondering if you have cutout at one end of building, AC units are at the other end, outside on a concrete pad, and just over the fence from the AC units sits the substation?
Out of interest, what was the original symptom that caused you to measure...
Is it TNC-S?
I wonder if there is a slightly high resistance somewhere on the PEN conductor, and some current is finding a preferential route back via the pipework?
Cable not loaded when carrying out Ze which could be masking the problem?
But remember that this test will often show a connection to earth via boiler, immersion, water heater cpc's etc. And can send you down the route of thinking it's extraneous, when in actuality it may not be.
To get a true test you need to power off install and disconnect earthing conductor from...
Trouble is all these cone/step drills will make the hole bigger concentrically, and that won't work if you're trying to enlarge the 20mm knockout on a metalclad socket.
The whole job was done by a relatively large company. Not sure who did the wiring.
It's a good 15to20m run from meter to board supplying spa. No cert yet but it's only been in a few days.
3 core swa, grey core taped g/y, armour just taped up at supply end. Properly glanded at dis board end, so...
