Help needed, simple PV system design for CG 2396

Hi Giles, I hope you have got the help you need with the PV design. It is quite straight forward and easy. It will take about 5 minutes to do the complete design. Preparing the needed paperwork and test criteria will take about 1 hour dependant on how good you are with simple cad packages. As...

    approved electrician??

Spot on malcolmsanford. I was 13/14 in 1973 though. I started in September 1975. For the first year we attended Saltram Crescent, part time day and evening. 2nd and third years were at Paddington Green. One of my lecturers there was also on the team that was righting the new 15th edition of the...

    approved electrician??

Thanks ian.settle1 for your comments. If you read the rest of my post you will note that I said that you could early. Like oldtimer (who also agrees with me) I got distinctions in all my exams. I even sst the 235 A when I just turned 17 and passed them with distinctions too. My college...

    approved electrician??

today we have the 2365 level 2 and 3. many who only pass the level 2 go on to work as an electricians for companies without being graded officially. a smaller number complete the level 3 and go on to working as electricians without being graded too. Some do the 2392 (which is an introduction to...

    approved electrician??

Interesting comments here. I argue that the electrical industry is in a mess as far as registration and qualifications are going Back in the 70s oldtimer is basically correct. To become an electrician you needed c&g235 A, a log book and an up to 5 year apprenticeship dependent on what age you...

    Passed my 2395 :)

Must add, the 2391-20 is now the 2396. It has been changed from a level 3 to a level 4. There is a lot to get through in a short time in the exam. Don'd be too concerned that it is a 10 question exam, there is a lot of writting and explanation involved. Not to mention real electrical applied maths.

    Passed my 2395 :)

it is a fact that an experienced electrician could pass the old 2391-10 after 3 days of tuition. However, anyone can pass if they are given long enough instruction.

    2391 is it really fair?

Interesting to see the chatter on the 2391. When Brian retired the exam got harder as the questions were brought up to date with what is expected of an experienced electrician. Unfortunately first technicians and now approve electricians as a grade is being killed off. Contractors and agencies...

    2391 is it really fair?

Gas Safe competent persons are retested every 5 years. And regarding the driving comparison, rarely if ever is the installer injured or killed due to his or her faulty installation. It always affect an innocent user.

    2391 is it really fair?

On a more general note is the underlying problem here. In the mid 70's we had labourers, electricians, approved electricians, and technicians. To become a technician you had to have been an approved electrician for 5 years and have passed the 235 C. To be an approved electrician you needed to...

    2391 is it really fair?

Hi Trev. the guidance for examiners marking the 2391 scripts is the answer to the questions have to be based on the correct assumptions. Strictly if you start off wrong then anything following which may be correct is ignored in the answer. this is one reason why it has such a low rate of pass...

    2391 is it really fair?

Formula should be 1/rt=1/r1+1/r2+1/r3 The way the answers are marked, I am informed, is that if you put the wrong formula down, what ever you put down after, even if it is correct, you will not get any marks for it.

Another sad reason Part P just doesnt work

Hi jjnr78 and others, Whilst I am sympathetic to your concern please note certain facts. If it is new work, the installer should arrange for an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) to be issued "before the installation is put into use". This is the most important point. Clearly this was...

    17th Edition 2382-12 (Green Book)

It is always interesting to hear what the chatter is in the electrical installation industry. The facts are, from 1st January 2012, the 2382-10 full 17th ed Wiring Regulations and the 2382-20 update from 16th ed Wiring Regulation to the 17th Ed will cease. These will be replaced by the 2382-12...
