Yes I think I'll do that :-) that will probably be the way most people go it when the new amendment comes into force. Unless that is the price of the glands come down a lot or the manufactures include them with there metal consumer units
I've got a job where I'm running a Swa sub main to a 17th edition board. I've got to put a switchfuse by the meter and I'm intending to run tails from the meter into it.
Previously I've put a male bush and locknut in the bottom and run the tails into that but I'm after other ideas that give...
I've been asked to quote for a rewire of a old Victorian house which is fine. The walls are lath and plaster so I don't know what to do for the best regarding the sockets.
When I have done this before I have removed a section of laths where the socket is going , put a wood noggin in and put a...
Do you have the Audi Bluetooth module fitted to the car ?
These have been known to go faulty and not shut off when the key is removed. This then drains the battery
We are all a helpful bunch of people!!! We do this in our spare time and don't get paid. It just wares thin after a while people are constantly getting stuck on simple things. Then run to the Internet and expect others to bail them out. You made the mistake of not checking fully before starting...
That's the very simple answer.
OP do you know the existing loading of the distribution board ? Can the supply take your new circuit load ? If you say the board is packed it could well be running at full capacity already
Simple answer and doesn't involve a Henley block. Should have checked the board properly when quoting/ deciding how to install the job.
Do you know what the loading is on the existing board ? Can the supply handle your new circuit.
As a guess these are similar lights with glass shades and outer rings I'm not sure if the glass shades and rings are the same size as yours

Believe me I'm going too don't worry they had a boiler service as part of there yearly checkup. They have the breakdown cover which is good for them as I live so far away. Anyhow the guy said the boiler was old and they can't get parts for it anymore so he offered a quote to replace the heating...
That's what I'm going to do got my tester and tools with me so going to check out what state the rod is in it was installed years ago and not by me.
I don't trust the gas board as far as I am throw them so in going to check it for myself.
Then if needs be I'll put a rod in
I'm only asking...
On a previous thread I started a while back I needed to install a earth rod as a temp measure and it was pointed out to me that people have phoned the DNO and they came out quick and installed a PME connection so I'm just asking the best route to go to do the same.
The Sanario is I'm heading...
Those snap on connectors are useless.I fit a lot of tape on a temporary basis to bits of set and all the tape I use I solder 5/6 inches of cable to them. Because I put it on temporary I have xlr connectors on the end but if doing a permant install just strip back the plastic outer casing and...
I can assure you there was no main earth cable or bonding cables in the consumer unit. There was non around the meter position too I could t for the life of me see any at all so the building I can assure you wasn't earthed.
Ok I know you could test the ze to see if an earth was available but I...
Get off your high horse when I say check with the supplier I do mean the DNO just said supplier but I ment that I would contact the people who supply the cable and cut out into the building my mistake saying the wrong word.
And you cannot just assume that the supply has an earth their. There is...
I did got my red stickers out the van lol
And I have priced up proteus rcbos from cef at 30 quid each that's the best price I've been quoted when I went in there. I don't hold an account with them so I guess that's why I don't normally pay that for rcbos just the exsisting board is proteus
