    Insulation resistance testing

Yes I find running around flicking switches a pain, I tend to keep a note as I am going so I don't lose track.

New supply for garage, split from cut out

You mentioned a switch but not a circuit breaker or fuse.

New supply for garage, split from cut out

If you do as you propose, how will the SWA be protected from overload/fault current?

Strangest thing you have found in a property?

    Very nutritious black goo though!

Strangest thing you have found in a property?

In my own house, I was removing an old cast iron fireplace from my son's bedroom (which I sold for £400!), and found the chimney was stuffed full of really old ladies and kids shoes, about fifty pairs. A bit creepy! Elsewhere, lifted a crappy chipboard floor to reveal the original floorboards...

Strangest thing you have found in a property?

I once went to a house and found a full set of electrical certificates for the installation. Very, very strange.

    Kitchen sink earth bonding

Bonding kitchen sinks went out with the ark (thankfully). Just fit the flexible pipework, no problem. Looking at the consumer unit or other electrics won't help you.

    Back box and switch questions

For low profile accessories go for 45/47mm boxes. Even then they can be a pain! 10A accessories are fine.

Strangest thing you've had to write on an EICR.

I had an upside down socket in my living room, was done that way I presume because the previous owner changed the faceplates and the cables wouldn't reach the terminals on the new socket unless upside down!

    Estate agent and money

I'd go back and un-test the lot.
