Manufacture recommended loft position. In my particular case, it's a new build house already completed. So it's a matter of ease of installation with no cables showing. Also the noise of the hardrive/fan running is overcome.
I'm not 100% sure, but once install/commissioned, is there not a button on there? If so, hold it down for several seconds. Is the beeping, to indicate credit getting low/run out? It will beep first time credit runs low. Thereafter, by holding down a (red?)button, it will not beep.

Hi guys, interesting thread. I'm a novice re CCTV installs.
I'm in the same boat as OP. I'm installing CCTV at home.
DVR unit going in loft. 24 volt supply for cameras in loft.
Router, straight forward install, approx 10m away via loft and into cupboard where router sited.
Set up for PC and...
I also did similar thing many many years ago. Switched off all sockets, radio went off. So started to work on a socket, yep got a shock, it was on Economy seven! Time clock out of sinc. It was an old storage heater point. Ahh well
I'm under the impression that temp supplies have to be TT earthing.
DNO's usually insist on TT earthing for temp supplies. They will not provide PME for temp supplies.
Even if Perm supply, aren't porta cabins classed as temp building as they are movable?
RE meters: Look on the actual meter, in the past, there use to be a nameplate behind the glass. No doubt, there will be some sort of identification mark and serial numbers stamped somewhere on the meters. Like every industry, what was done years ago, may not comply today with today's standards...
Who owns the meter upstairs? Many lager type houses get converted into separate flats by developers/ landlords. It's not the DNO's responsibility, especially (as usually the case) if not informed of any changes to the property or increase in load.
I would just ask the DNO company to survey the property. You needn't worry at this stage about the supplier. More than likely the DNO will state that the existing service cable was suitable for use at time of installation way back when its was one dwelling. All depends on who did the alterations...
Afternoon Guys. Question from an out of date retired electrician.
Existing Hager split-board using cartridge fuses (1361) for OC protection.
Existing shower circuit (6mm) protected by 30amp cartridge fuse for old possibly 7'5kw shower unit.
Shower being replaced with a 8.5kw shower unit. Are...
Drill stud as you would do normally, chop wall out which is up against the the stud. Same as going behind a skirting board. Failing that, a metal plate covering the cables in a notch.
Possibly run more than 1 sub circuit. 3 phase or 1 phase Sub circuits to be suitably sized for known load plus spare capacity for unknown (with -in reason) load. I would keep all the final sub circuits to a sensible distance. Possibly use 16 amp sockets for caterers to plug into...
Great feedback guys, thanks. Can these wireless systems be coupled with a TV? Or is it just computers, ipads, mobile phones? I'd like to view what cameras are showing / recorded.
Whilst working for a DNO company, we had to remove the mains intake position to an OMB position. Customer's insurance company insisted on it. Also they insisted smoke alarms within the loft space.
