Have a look online, but you can get GU10s and even E27 and B22 in low voltage, I have used them in the past for outside lights and on canal boats.
Most are sold in 12v or 24v, if you go with 24v the current will be slightly less
I have electric underfloor heating in my consventory and bathroom, Both I installed using the heating element wire on a roll rather than matts, but i believe the matts are the same thing just the wire is already nicely spaced for you
The underfloor heating in my bathroom works very well...
I have often thought how stupid it is to have a split board with say 63a RCDs and a 100a main fuse
In my opinion diversity is not a good solution as yes the likelihood of overload is low, but if one day the heating packs up and they plug in loads of electic heaters, switch immersion on, and...
I have fitted an electric shower in my house,
no gas only electric, problem is hot water tank is only big enough for 1 bath or shower, and cannot get a bigger tank in due to space restrictions, so as soon as the other half has had a bath no more hot water ,and i heat the tank over night on...
And there is the risk of your electrodes being to close to other PME electrodes or buried services in the ground and then PEN fault appearing on your electrode, but i guess if it was done at the point the foundations where done and to every house on an estate its almost like making a very...
I like the idea as I still struggle as to why we live with this risk of open PEN conductors, yes we mitigate by doing PME and inside an equipotential zone you will probably be ok (although people who have received a shock standing on an "insulated wooded floorboard might disagree). Yes why...
I drop mine off to the place myself, As i hear what your saying about courier
Martindale/instrotech in Watford do my calibration and its only a 30mins drive away so works out well
Ahh I see, the is probably CANBUS, So as you say it would be a digital signal on the one wire, I would still contact hawk as they probably do a new model which works for that system
The system you brought from eBay sound like the old/traditional method which is 12v + & - to drive door...
Iv fitted aftermarket central locking to a corsa B and to a corsa (combo) C
The combo C already had solenoids in the doors and I brought a unit from hawk (hawkcaralarm.com) which was made to work with the exsisting wiring and solenoids and switches, Hawk were very good I emailed them and...
Fluke 1662, Does me very well, probably doesnt do as much testing as some on here do, but when I am working i does a bear minimum of high current and no trip loop impedance test every day
Alot say they like the fluke case, the hindge broke in no time on mine and i dont rate it that much...
Interesting, A while ago I had conduit CPC fail on 2 circuits with 50-150ohm Zs, I pulled through a new CPC for one of them, and for the cooker ran a new bit of T&E as was close to CU.
Although I believe this is the best way to fix it as now has a nice low Zs and meets disconnection time...
I would also isolate the power to the oven by switching the breaker off / removing the fuse in the consumer unit / fuse box, until an electrican has been to check out the fault
As mentioned above the generator probably doesn't have L-N linked , Iv owned a few small (under 15 KVA) generators and all of them have not had a L-N link. The earthing point on the chassis of the generator just connects to the cpc/earth pins of the outlets,
The earth in this case is...
I wouldn't opt for a smart meter. I too use economy 7 and if I get a smart meter the economy 7 equivalent i will be given is terrible, 9p pew kwh off peak, 18p per kwh normal and 35p per kwh "Peak" (between 5pm - 7pm)
currently i have 9p off peak and 18p peak
So check with your electricity...
Very nice
I had the same conundrum as you with a wall lamp I made using a trombone
I couldn't find a suitable place to attach and earth easily and without affecting the look
So instead I used a SELV transform and a 12v light bulb, depending on your bulb fitting this could be an option for you
By you wearing a face covering you are stopping you breathing out covid into someone's house, but there is no protection for you catching it while in someone's house which may have it, as they will not be living in there house with a mask on so the air would be contaminated so to speak (the...
I think heat pump are the way it will be going, air source or ground source. The price to buy them is already falling alot and with gas being phased out more manufacturers could pop up and prices fall. In a heat pump some electricity is used to run a compressor some valves and control gear...
You cannot test r1 r2 with a multimeter as the resolution of the meter is normally not high enough and nor is the test current used from the meter
You can also not test Ze & Zs, insulation resistance or RCD disconnection times, these tests are quite basic for small electrical work and are...
