spinlondon is talking sense. To avoid bad job relations with the tester, change the cable to 3core but make sure you insulate the end of the cpc after sleeving it, or better still over-sleeve it. You are perfectly correct installing the 2core, but the tester is trying to be pedantic and...
Something's not right! Take the fitting down and into your local trade counter and get help with correct parts. They should offer the correct parts or verify that you have already got the right parts. Other sparks at the counter should help. Did you say you got no installer's leaflet?

I'm surprised a 20 year experienced spark is asking this. Get a hold of the fire alarm guy on site and hand him a sheet of paper and a pen. He will sketch the circuit in minutes. Write back to [email protected] for a diagram.

From what I've gathered since I posted the query, the supply from the pv side is connected to an mcb input terminal. This allows isolation but it is the only time an input supply is ever connected to the load terminal of an mcb! I worry as to what a spark who isnt aware of this might do while...
For the older sparks, do you feel as I do, that the move years ago to do away with the equivalent of 7/.029 cable for ring final circuits was a bad move. I feel that 2.5 sq mm single stranded, is far too rigid for the purpose. Would love to hear the consensus of opinion from you all.

Those of us sparks old enough would not mind rings if it wasn't for the phasing out years ago of 7/.029 and the intro of single strand 2.5sqmm conductors.
The main objection to the ring final circuit is the time and bother to test (and I don't mean simply testing for continuity of each leg of the ring). Extra work , extra time and I wonder if it's being done properly.
Hi Fellow Sparks. I have to install a 30 metre run of Main Protective Bonding Conductor to Gas Main and Water Main in a commercial building. Is it permissible under the IEE Regs to clip a single 10 sq.mm PVC cable directly to the building surface for this, or should it be enclosed? Also...
