I've been using them for about 4 years now, both the lever and push types. Honestly one of the best inventions. Crimps are good too, but I prefer wagos in nearly all circumstances now. I was skeptical at first, but I'm converted to the church of wago!
Clear case so you can actually see the...
I've had the superrod set for about 2 years now, top kit. Well worth the money. Magnet and chain set has made its cost back (time saved) on the first job, led bullet is great for lofts etc, the cable grippers save time by not having to tape cables on and cut/rip them off.
I've had the cheap...
Hi all bright sparks,
I've had a question from a client I couldn't answer on the spot. I've done some google research but can't find an answer to this;
Is there any reason the DNO cable and a final circuit be installed in the same trench? DNO cable will be in a duct, client wants the SWA...
I made myself a spreadsheet that I can put the cost of materials into, and the price per man hour, and what is asked for by the customer/drawings. It will work out a very rough cost which it multiplies by 25% as a safety margin. It works enough for me, but only for new builds and rewires where...
Hi everyone.
I'm having a clear out so some test gear which is just gathering dust. It's all in excellent condition, have a look at the pictures to see.

I've just left site and replaced the mcb, and moved it from L1 to L3. I guess I'll get a call in a couple of hours to say if it's worked or not. Can't wait for that call!
The terminations are all a-ok. Mcb, kliks, fittings all checked and any even slightly suspect ones re terminated. I've checked for volt drop at the end of the circuit, and forced the compressor to start running, and 2 of the 6 ramps to be starting to see if there is volt drop due to load, the...
Termination of the mcb on the conductor and bus bar is good. The fittings cycle within 5 mins of each other, and after roughly 2h15min each time. My thoughts were a faulty mcb? Never come across this myself, but a plastic connection inside the mcb is possible?
Update:
So I re terminated all the kliks, nipped up the conductors in the board, replaced the lamps. No effect, same fault 2 hours later, all 3 on the circuit cycled again. 2 circuits of 3 lights each, 1 circuit good, one bad. This only left 2 variables, fittings on circuit a were lower in the...
I'm there again on Thursday to have a look, and I'll take a look at the invoice tomorrow to get an idea if they are the right lamps. As for volt drop I'll just have to take a reading on site on Thursday. I just assumed the new accessories were the problem, and the wholesalers would supply the...
Hi all.
Yesterday I replaced 6x 400w metal halide fittings and lamps in a volvo dealership workshop. The existing fittings were tatty and old, so it was a straight swap old for new. After switching on all was well, until today when I got a call saying one had turned off, I asked my customer...
Thanks murdoch. Would you contact the dno about the size of their main earth? Obviously the ze is excellent, my concern is with the pfc and the (my opinion) undersized earth.
Thanks for the reply darkwood, and the welcome.
I wasn't clear on that point, I'm not specifically after a conversion to tn-c-s. The only time I've ever had the dno out to do work on the service head was when I found an old cast iron cutout and no met, even though the dno said it was a tns and...
Hi,
I have just completed an EICR on a house my In-laws have just bought (I actually get on very well with them, so I'd like them to be safe)
The EICR was an Unsatisfactory for various other reasons, some of which I will be solving with a CU swap. my main problem is with the Main Earth.
I'm...
