No now that's not nice and I pride myself on offering a good honest service!!!!!
If you read the post you will see
I got called to look why someone was receiving a shock
I identified it was a faulty appliance if that was the end of it I would of removed it from service and end of.
I then...
There are 9 circuits altogether in the property but only 5 need RCD coverage
2 showers
3 ring mains
3 internal light circuits
1 outside light circuit.
I tested the earth rod and insulation residence tested the ring circuits no fault found
I then looked at the appliance that they were using...
The earth rod was a temp fix I already had it on the van and it was just easier and quicker to put the rod in. I am going to contact the energy company to check earthing arrangement and get them to provide an earth for the property if there's one available. Didn't think the energy company would...
Got called out to a hairdressers yesterday after they were receiving shocks from a hair straiteners
Got there to find a single phase consumer unit no RCDs in site and no main earth or bonding at all
So remedy that by putting a temp earth rod in and bonding to water and gas
I have said that...
He's perhaps getting confused by the old days. Years gone by they use to wire the phase of a single phase circuit in the colour of the phase that it was going to be connected too.
So you would find single phase circuits in a 3phase board wired with
Red and black
Yellow and black
Blue and...
I've never done pat testing and always told customers that I don't offer the service. But just reacently I've had a lot of people asking if I offer the service.
This has got me thinking what do you need to carry out testing ?
I know you need a pat tester that's a given but I'm just wondering...
Have to say I have. I have even installed it myself. In the days of my apprentiship working for the council.
We had to run a 4mm from the light to the shower pull chord. From there down to the hot and cold of the bath to the bath itself then onto the radiator pipes and then a seperate bond...
My mums just brought a brand new Taylor wimpy house the consumer unit is in the garage at ceiling level. To top it all though the meter is on the opersite side of the house and they have just used meter tails to run to the board. They are buried under the plasterboard dry lining up to the...

You have just missed out on a job opening. The bbc were looking to take on an elelectrician to train up just before Christmas. They have filled the job now unfortunily.
As Rockingit says it's a very difficult closed industry to get into. There's lots of clowns around who say that they are...
As far as I know there is no corse for BS7909 it's just a set of regulations
It's more to do with testing and certificating temporary installations
To be able to carry out the testing you have to be competent to do so. This means that you should have 2391 or 2394/2395 to prove compatance...
Just watching, I know it's early days but has anything been said or suggested as to any changes hopefully this will be the start of something good and it doesn't just fall on deaf ears
well done Damian :-)
Not that I know anything about whiskey but I just discovered these while browsing for a present in a whiskey shop for my step dad who loves his whiskey
Things called whiskey stones you chill them in the freezer then put them in your whiskey to chill it...
We will have to agree to disagree there
Yes if you were desining it from start you would install a 2.5 or at a push 4mm radial
But as long as the installation was carryed out correctly there's nothing wrong with a 6mm radial
If anything it's belt and braces over engineered
You can use a 35mm deep box no problems and what exactly is wrong with having a 6mm radial instead of a 4mm or even 2.5mm
As long as you terminate the cable correctly and dress the cables back there's no problem
