more and more I am coming across fittings that are marked up cat 2 double insulated when there clearly surrounded with metal. Had a customer supplied fitting with metal base and a cowel that was powder coated alumininium.... not an earth terminal in site!
Today had a building control chappy demand I notify a new fan in a new en suite bathroom. Told him the fan was out side of the zones and therefore not notifiable. Due diligence was done with testing and a minor works cert produced . He was adamant tho . . . . .
Always good to work things out for yourself.
However ......... regardless of leads being reversed as our plumber friend stated he has 230 between neutral and earth . . .

Carrying out an eicr. Told owners I'll need access to all rooms to test all sockets. Entered the 18 year old daughters bedroom to be confronted with a box is tricks !!!! No attempt to conceal them . And when I say box of tricks I mean just about every toy available .....
Bs7671 states fixed appliances 2kw or more should have dedicated circuit. 32 amp circuit has stood the test of time and future proofs any upgrade from 2.4kw fan ovens.
Sorry off at a tangent to your original query....... but worth noting I feel.
We all get asked to carry out eicrs for properties that have no certification. The history of this we know not. And we ask not. On completing said eicr we state concealed wiring is not inspected. If it passes we stick a label on it saying test again in ten years.
