Scrap price for September 2015 ?

That is around 67 pence a kg , that is hardly worth the effort ! I will phone the place I normally go in the morn to see what it is like here in Lincs , but when I last went about a month ago house hold was around 120 pence a kg .

Scrap price for September 2015 ?

Has anyone weighed in , within the last week or so ? I know the price has taken a severe battering as of late , but was wondering what it was like around the country ? It always surprises me how the price can differ so widely between yards !

What is the best bit for you

Your reply mostly sums it up for me , when I personally do the job / breakdown. But for general install work , it is going around the finished job and not being able to find any part of it that could have been improved on , if it was to be done again , either by my design or the one's...

    Old BS7671 Books

At our last farm , the old pig paddock next to the house used to be full of them each year . One of the old boys out of the village used to fancy his self as a bit of a dealer , and come and get loads . I reckon he mostly kept them for his self , the trouble was the paddock was the size of a...

    Van security and chickens !

Duane , I have pulled some right proper strange looking birds at the local village disco and young farmer do' s . But that is a step too far , even for me !

    Van security and chickens !

After sitting in the thing for near on 3hrs on the way back home to Lincs , the smell has sort of put me off chicken for a day or two :-)

    Van security and chickens !

We have been wrap in up a little 100kw field mount Pv job for one of our local clients in his free range chicken pens last week and whilst I was in the inverter shed they let them out for the day . This what I was greeted with as I rounded the corner of one of the solar tables ! The front...

Star delta fan wiring help please

Hi Goldy , could you post more detailed photo's ? At the moment I would guess that they are part of a remote start setup , but a guess is all it is without more detailed photo's . And Darkwood is not scaremongering with his advise about it getting costly , it looks like you have a Brooke...

    Cleating to concrete posts?

I do not want to tempt fate , but we are yet to misplace one by that far . I have to admit that when ever I set one off it is always a relief to see it come out at the other end , the largest one we run is worth about £12.5 k on its own !

    Cleating to concrete posts?

Sounds like I have found a fellow moler ! They are one the most useful and profitable pieces of kit that we run , but the bloody things can drive you mad .

    Cleating to concrete posts?

As Dave said in post 7 , just get it moled . If you get a good man on the job he should just about do that in one run and all you would see is the aftermath of the two 50cm x1m service pits !

What tool shall I treat myself to?

If you do ever get around to buying a trencher , I would suggest that you go for a tracked version . The one we use is a slightly larger Bobcat version of the RTX100 , and to be honest it is just not up to the job if you need any decent depth and as for keeping it in a straight line , you have...

Who are you using for Van Insurance?

We use the NFU ( National Farmers Union ) for all of our policies , and just tend to renew each year as and when .

    hydraulic crimper

Re: hydralic crimper For the small stuff we tend to use SWA manual crimp sets , having said that , they are far from top of the range . We only buy through the wholesalers for things like these , for a audit trail if ever needed Edit; For the big stuff we use cembre

    hydraulic crimper

Re: hydralic crimper Each to their own , but some things cost what they cost when it comes to piece of mind . 300 mm lugs have the potential of taking some serious juice

    hydraulic crimper

Re: hydralic crimper The oil in one of our crimper sets costs more than them alone ! I would not be able to get off to the land of nod each night , if they went out on one of our jobs .
