Is my rewire price in the right area?

I couldn't see that you had priced for running a supply from the intake to the 2nd CU upstairs? Have you factored in parking, parking tickets etc (if relevant)? For the area I think your price is a bit on the light side.

    Pricing

They can’t run a viable business at £35 per hour. I’d guess that Aberdeen is affected by offshore sparks doing ‘foreigners’ when back on shore. Don’t try and compete with them as you’ll never win. Work out your costs - van, tools, holidays, sick time, fuel. Work out the number of days per year...

What is your hourly rate as a self employed electrician? (2024-25)

You can’t run a business at £20 per hour. I’d suggest those charging that don’t have a true handle on their business outgoings. In this day and age with various costs I be looking at £50 per hour as a minimum. Not sure if the rates include/exclude VAT

Way way too low on price. Take the advice from SparkySy.

What will help me understand and pass my 2391-52?

I've done the old and new 2391. On the new one less that 30% of people passed the theory so didn’t continue on to the practical. The course does assume you are confident with testing for the practical side of things. There is no training on how to use a test meter etc For the theory exam some...

What is your hourly rate as a self employed electrician? (2024-25)

Why wait mate? I’ve had no negative experiences in raising my rates. In this day and age I think £50 per hour is a minimum rate.

    NICEIC Test Sheets

You don't need the internet to use an Easycert certificate. You only need the internet connection to send it. I've used it for years and am NICEIC. Never been an issue with any NICEIC 'assessor'. They probably just want you to use the NICEIC software so they make more money from you!

Dodgy trade pictures for your amusement! - 1 Million Views!

Wiring up for an ASHP yesterday. Plumber had been in before and had his apprentice repurpose and wire the existing immersion supply. Bless, at least he tried. I later found the immersion was wired from an existing ring final. Had to open the JB to remove cabling (then rana new circuit). Think...

24 module DB to include 16 MCBs

Why would you want to hang that many MCBs off of 2 RCDs? It's just asking for trouble now or in the future. Why not just ask your wholesalers to sort it out - thats what I would do. Tell them the space dimensions you have for the CU and your desired layout?

    surge protection for heating system

Not sure that there is a DIY solution. Either a new CU with SPD built in or a stand alone SPD before the existing board. Also modern protective devices found in a consumer unit will behave with a different character to you Hager cartridge fuses and give better protection to you household circuits..

Using an EU PAT testing device

I have the PAT 410 and it has a standard UK socket fitted and all leads are for the UK. Is the image you are looking at generic or just wrong? Its a great bit of kit but it is very heavy.

    SECTT test

There used to be example questions online. Try the SELECT website or ring them. Having gone through it with my last apprentice it is timed and you need to answer as many questions as you can. Try not to linger on each one as you’ll run out of time. He failed first time around purely because of...

UK Inverter over grid voltage fault

We had a similar call out and the issue was with the grid (which they admitted). Voltage was too high.
