UK Add new outlets in house with original fuse box

I understand what you're saying about how new regs may seem disproportionate for minor alterations, but that's because of a culmination of the number of regulation changes which have come out since your consumer unit was installed. For example, if it were an early 18th edition board then it...

Set up for oven + combi?

Most FCU's have the 3mm gap for isolation, but you're just on the limit for a 13A fuse. Seems a shame to downgrade the 32A cooker circuit, but in fairness the likelihood of a 20A breaker tripping 6.5Kw worth of ovens is actually quite low unless you have everything on for long periods.

    EV consumer unit tails

All depends on the severity of the fault. A dead short would take the fuse out fast enough for it not to be an issue, but a fault with a low enough resistance could allow the fuse to hold long enough for the tails to burn out. Otherwise what's the point in fitting cables which are rated to their...

UK Add new outlets in house with original fuse box

New sockets aside, I would give serious consideration to a new consumer unit. They have moved on leaps and bounds since the old Wylex 3036 rewireable boards. Your house and your safety will be much better off for it.

    EV consumer unit tails

It's common practice, but it's still done as a minor deviation to save money and make the job simpler. The 10mm tails will not safely carry 100A in the event of a fault (nor would 16mm tails), but in reality the fix load brigade will site that the 32A EV charger cannot overload the tails, which...

Set up for oven + combi?

I'd keep it as a 32A circuit, fit a dual cooker connection unit and run 6mm to a 13A fused connection unit where you can hard wire the MWO.

Communal areas of flats commercial or residential.

I'd be be classing it as a Dwelling with it forming part of the habitat space and therefore covered by Part-P. So your board swap is notifiable.

    EV charger on garage CU

No rod required for Zappi or PodPoint as they have have neutral/earth fault detection. Site survey should include checking for metalwork near the charge point which could be extraneous. The Type A RCD will suffice for the EV charger, just feed from a suitably sized MCB.There is some installation...

Solar Street Lights for a little parking

Yeah don't bother with solar lights as they're too weak. If possible you're better off with with sensor lights.

How are you guys deciding on Ring/Radial cable routes?

I'm fine with drilling and notch positions/sizes. It's more that the cable route is normally decided for me, but we're wall to wall at the moment, so I'm heading over to sort the layout on my own and do as much as possible while the other guys are tied up. Kitchen wise, a cooker point was...

How are you guys deciding on Ring/Radial cable routes?

Yes I was thinking that too. One of the things I need to check is the run back to the CU.

How are you guys deciding on Ring/Radial cable routes?

I'm about to be thrown in at the deep end by being let loose on a customers requests for a 1st fix in an extension before. I anticipate being asked to extend the Ring, lighting and at least one Radial. Now sticking to pulling cable through the 25-40% length of the joists, do you guys have any...

Advice on becoming an electrician - Liverpool based.

To give you an idea on prices my local college wanted £2.5k per course for Lvl 2 then Lvl 3 over 2 years. Instead I'm on an EAL Lvl 2 @ £1900 for 1 year and will start Lvl 3 around September next year. The way I see it is that you're investing in yourself. @43 I'm funding my own career change...
