    Install it to the manufacturers instructions, if they say it can be wired either way then it can be, if not then it can't be, I personally would not put it in upside down.

    Yes but if the RCD is required work in real life the load will not be disconnected, so don't think that they are always going to react as your tester said they would.

    I've had readings of 0.01 ohms quite often when testing very close to the sub so don't worry about it.

    Just unplug as much equipment as you can because capacitors in equipment can upset your readings.

    I wouldn't say it was an extension lead because it is not extending the circuit, it is the circuit. As long as it is fit for purpose it's not a problem.
