Band 1 and 2 separation (folklore)

Hi, From site to site someone always seems to have a new previously unknown insight towards elv and Lv running together. I’ve heard : ‘They can run together for 600mm” “They can cross over and touch” amongst others. No one however can ever provide a reg number. Does anyone here have any...

    Idea on marking lights

Yeah h&s can’t cope with a trailing 110 yet alone a screw sticking up :) I might put some gaffer tape down, drill though then put a screw in with a penny washer to hold down the gaffer tape for quick visual later. There are 80ish flats to do so want to find a good system from the off :)

    Idea on marking lights

Actually a short screw is not a bad shout! Bang a red plug in and leave the screw head sticking up a couple of mill...then remove after the hole is cut above :)

    Idea on marking lights

So I was thinking of investing in one of those lasers with a plumb bob after using a colleagues on a recent job - very helpful. I’m now doing a job where I have to wire downlights where it’s a really high ceiling (so cables banded and hanging awaiting dropped pb ceiling) I was thinking of...

    RCD tripping Problem solved

Interesting! Must have been frustrating too..could have stumped many a good man How many circuits controlled the lights? Did you realise it was the fittings by changing all the lights on one circuit or was it a guess/measurement/deduction by elimination? If you kept switching a switch on off...

Shower Switch - Required or Not

"I'm putting in an electric shower (7kW), which will be protected (and clearly labelled as being for that purpose) by a 30mA 2-pole RCD + 32A MCB (garage/shower type connection unit - no main switch in it, just the RCD & MCB) going outside the bathroom in the airing cupboard at an easily...

    SWA to CU

Cheers lads, Can you point me in the direction of one which will accept a 25mm swa cable?? The only boxes I can see which will take a 25swa are fused 100a switches, due to the size of the cable.

    SWA to CU

Festive greetings everyone, I have a 25mm SWA sub main coming into a house, and need to terminate into the CU. The problem being is that in order to get the cables(once exposed from armour into the CU they either need to go behind a wall and down from ceiling (less than 50mm from surface so...

    Pvc/Pvc singles in domestic situation...

Cheers. The earth for the circuit would come with the live to the switch (3gang) then off from there to each of the lights, again as a pvc/pvc single and earth. Then each of the lights connected together with a pvc/pvc single neutral going back to cu. So definately no need to have an earth...
