Thanks both, my issue is that both these 6A RCBOs trip during the half test, so do not comply with the requirements / are not operating correctly as you suggest Risteard.
I always ramp test, as much for my own interest as anything else, but also in the hope of avoiding call backs in the future...
Hi Julie, yep, checked time and time again! Started early morning (lots of floods here in Shrewsbury, if you don't get underway before dawn it takes hours to travel even a short distance at the moment!) so wondered if I was making a simple mistake due to fatigue, but all as it should be...I...
dont have the exact results to hand, but all comfortably within expected parameters, IR / ZS etc, I'll try to dig out the actual figures later
One 6A on the board testing fine, have 2 more for the weekend's board....hoping they'll be ok
Tested with the L / N disconnected completely, so just...
Fitting a new CU today (domestic TT) and using "Fusebox" for the first time - 14 way Type A RCBO board, 9 ways used 5 spare.
All good until testing RCBO trip times - 7 test perfect, but 2 (both 6A) tripping during half test, 1 @ 0 the other @ 180. All loads disconnected, tested again, same...
Domestic TNCS, main earthing conductor runs to water pipe, bonds via clamp with label, cable is continuous, then runs on to MET in DB.
Seems wrong, but cant find specific reg to say so....any thoughts?
Thanks,
Timotei
Thanks Richard. The panel is not a fold back panel, it is the "fixed" side panel of a cubicle. However, with the help and advice of yourself and the good folks above I am inclined to record this as C3 and explain the reasoning to my client.
Apologies, yes it's an eicr on sale of house, debate with colleague as I intend to recommend relocation, he says not required....hence interested in the views of the wise heads that frequent the forum.
I agree Mudoch...but it's already there! I think it needs relocating, my colleague things it's not in zone 2 so leave alone....hence discussion re PFP.
Does the non opening side of a typical perspex shower cubicle represent a "permanent fixed partition"?
Having a "discussion" with a colleague regarding the "plan" diagram p.89 OSG (yellow). Discussion centres around whether the PFP needs to be a wall or just the standard perspex cubicle side...
Anyone know if WPD allow the same?
Hadn't thought of asking the question, called them at 16:20, all gone home, finished at 16:00 - I assume to count their money!!!
Thanks for the replies.
Daylight robbery it is then!
I can only assume they actually want the fairies to deal with the seals - otherwise those of us who still play by the book are never going to win a quote / job again!
Just been quoted £167 + VAT for installation of a DP Isolator (by Western Power Distribution) on a domestic property I've been asked to work on!
I generally like to do things "by the book", i.e. I'm not a fuse puller....but at this price I might just change my mind.
I assume the lady I spoke...
Just been back...
With benefit of more light (and glasses!) what I thought were ECP's on the lights were in fact plastic, so didn't pursue further testing there.
Lightswitch and FCU both good.
Gut feeling the lights are sound, and don't want to go replacing them only to have the same...
Thanks for your thoughts so far....
lights are actually being used to illuminate understairs cupboard, so all cables / links visible and appear undamaged, no steam or moisture present.
Littlespark, I also assume / consider likely a cumulative effect of the 3 lights, but as should be able to...
Call out for tripped 20A RCBO on TT system, 3 Halolite T4 fluorescent cabinet lights (class 2) on 3A FCU from radial socket circuit, trips occasionally when lights are switched on.
Circuit tested including IR, all results good, RCBO tested including ramp test, all good.
Connections checked...
Thanks, bit of a "can't see the wood for the trees" - upfront RCD it is then!
Didn't seem right without it, but kept coming back to that reg and then running round in ever decreasing circles!
Appreciate your help.
Timotei
I have been going over this for some time, and every time I think I have it sorted I read something else which sows doubt in my mind again!
TT system.
CU to be replaced and moved to new location as not enough room where currently sited.
New location will result in tails being approx 5m in...
PEG, you got me thinking now.....client is elderly customer who I have to admit developing a soft spot for over the past couple of years....obviously lead pipe would not be good.....may I ask what made you think it might be lead and is there any easy way of telling "what lies beyond" the house...
