A few times I’ve actually removed the downpipe and fixed the cable directly behind.

    Dual Metered Distribution Board

Been asked to quote for a job where the small power and lighting needs separate metering. I’ve not come across this before as I usually only do small commercial, which I believe is exempt from this requirement. Anyone know the actual requirements as per regulations? Anyway I digress. I...

UK Wanting some quoting advice / am I about right/or too high-low

Hager RCBO’s have come down massively in price the last few months. Now should be similar to Fusebox mini ones. Some unscrupulous wholesalers are not passing this reduction on though. Make sure you shop around if not.

    One RCBO killing entire board?

Come on it’s not rocket science to work that out!!

    One RCBO killing entire board?

Not sure why you thought it was sarcasm. It sounds to me that it’s very likely that the consumer unit has been installed incorrectly - either by incorrect connections or loose/missed connections.

    One RCBO killing entire board?

Somebody without the necessary knowledge to install a consumer unit correctly.

Brick wall lights - SWA cable connections

Brick lights are trouble imo, end of! I only fit quality ELV lights in this situation. I’ve yet to find any brick shaped ones. Usually round

    Approved tradesmen scheme

To be fair, the more stringent entry requirements seem to have cut down on the total cowboys operating under a scheme name near me. I think it’s more to do with the slowing flow of Eastern European sparks for various reasons and the retiring of many older sparks and not so many young coming...

    CCU Change on property

I would argue that some limitations are acceptable on an EIC. For example, consumer unit change, lighting circuits with downlighters etc, then L-L IR test is always going to be a LIM in reality.

    Heatmiser neostat v2

You can change it to floor temp mode in the settings. So it shows floor temp on the display instead of room temp. It’s all in the manual. Takes 2 mins to do. I’ve fitted loads of these and never had one fail.

Ferrules on 7 stranded cable? I’m assuming that’s 6491X? Or is it fine stranded?

Why would you? Click are not expensive anyway and a pound to a penny, anything CEF own brand is absolute tripe.

UK Kitchen Wiring-New Build ring vs radial

Either way, I’d be running a ring for general use sockets and small loads like extractor/gas hob ignition etc and 16A 2.5mm2 radials to appliances (unless over 16A of course)

Anyone suggest an alternative to the below? https://lightsaveled.com/products/architectural/ls-sky They’ve been specified on a council job and the trouble I’m having with these absolute chancers. I paid for them 2 weeks ago and have still not received. Why on earth they have to specify from...
