Hi, new member to the forum.
Started on the 16th edition but haven't done any regs edition tests since the start of the 17th. As I changed to do LV & HV cable jointing. But still like to keep up with the regs. Looking at my local college they still offer the BS 7671 courses but not city and...

I received my 18th edition books a few days ago and found only a few training providers that allow you to sit the exam only.
I contacted Oakley Services UK knowing that they had an 18th exam this evening but if they had a cancellation, could I sit the exam, surprisingly they said that they had...
Whats the requirement for getting clued up on the new regs? Do you HAVE to go on an official training course by an appropriately qualified trainer, or can one just read up on it oneself?
I've done the latter, plus reading up on articles in the technical press.
Personally I begrudge paying the...

With the 18th edition coming out, will this just mean more rules broken? Judging by the number of questions on this forum most electricians struggle with the 17th edition! I assume any installations wired under the 17th edition are now dangerous? Mmm better think about rewiring my stables. Only...
Hi,
Complete laymen to the electrical world so need some advice.
We had a complete rewire done in 2016 and as part of this we had an RCBO unit put in. Today we have had an issue where there has been a loose connection and the board needs replacing. This is being done under our house cover but...
Since the dawn of time, people have been portraying things that they sell as more than what they are.
Last few years, you could buy 16th Edition testers, 17th Edition CCU's, etc. The only thing that is XXth Edition is the Regs, but already they are offering 18th Edition test kit.
They can call...
hi,
I have my 18th edition exam booked next week. I have just started to read up on the changes.
I am correct in stating that if the gas and water pipes have a plastic insulated section. At point of entry, then they do not require 10mm bonding??
Sorry if this is a stupid question....
Thanks

Having just done the 17th edition in January I am in no hurry to sit through the torture all over again to do the 18th, a friend of mine has mentioned on his assessment he has told up to two years before he has to get the 18th as long as he works to the new regulations from January 2019 can any...
Hi all,
I need some advice on my next move. I took the opportunity to train towards becoming an Electrician and have so far got my City & Guilds 2365 level 2 + 3 and my 18th Edition. I have been looking at improver and mates jobs but they still seem to want experience. What is the best way to...
Hi
I took the 17th edition back in 2010 what course should I take, update or full course.
People I talk to tell me the update course but when I read through the websites it tells me full course, people who have done the course just booked the update.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks
