I'm a member of the IET (or the IEE as it was), something that I used to be proud of but now find an embarrassment especially within the...

Just a quick question regarding 18th edition. I'm currently 17th awaiting assesment date from stroma for my Part P. Will I have to obtain my 18th before my first year of Stroma membership is up or when it expires for next years renewal. Obviously I can give them a call but thought someone may...
Just had an email from NICEIC, clearly they are getting in early, the RRP for the 18th edition is £95!! as with most books its likely that the likes of Amazon and others will be cheaper.
NICEIC though are offering a 'discount', you can pre-order a copy today for just £85.... talk about day light...
Hello All,
As I have mentioned before I have been a Free Subscriber to the IET `Wiring Matters` Magazine for many years after being given a Free subscription by the then IEE after posing a question to them.
As you will know the Magazine is now an online version and I get regular Emails...
Had this in an email from Wylex, might be useful to people as it summarises some of the changes in the 18th edition quite well. things might change but from what I have heard industry and a lot of the various bodies pretty much know whats staying and going from the draft but cant officially say.
I've not read any of the 18th edition drafts but have read some summary points of what to expect. I understand there will be some emphasis on energy conservation. Is anyone aware of what this will entail (in domestic installs) other than low energy lighting?
Went to Elex today ...... not much going on..... not many freebies on offer!
I did sit though the NICEIC talk on the 18th Edition, not much to say really except nothing has been decided except the cover is going to be blue.

I'm recently retired, but still qualified and pick up some of the smaller jobs others won't do.
When the 18th edition is inflicted on us, how long before I need to pack in completely because I'm not doing any more f#*****ING exams....
It's proposed in the 18th edition that any new pme installation is to have a rod added by the electrician that has has a resistance of 30ohms or less. What are people's thoughts on this? My main concern is the amount of services that are going to get hit with everyone driving rods in.....also my...
I was wondering around at the ELEX show at the Richo Stadium yesterday, and stopped the NICEIC and IET stands.
I counted the number of publications currently on sale 27 books, and I thought, would they all need to be replaced when the 18th comes into force, surprise surprise, no one would give...
We all know the 18th edition is going to be forced on us next year.
So my question is, who makes these important decisions, not just what is included but the over reliance on making changes too often .................. I'd like to hear their justifications for making the seemingly too frequent...
probably been discussed but I can't find this info I'm wanting
Anyway once the 18th is active and we all need to spend ££££ on our new bibles will there be a short update exam or a full 18th edition exam
Thanks
Ive recently watched some short online videos from the NICEIC which talks about some of the changes that will be incorporated in the 18th edition. One of these changes i think says that all socket outlets upto 32a will require RCD protection.
I have recently been to look at a job where the...
