Hi,
Looking for a single 240v DIM mounted relay, with 2 inputs and 2 outputs.
Under normal conditions, a constant 240v input from the mains (In1) only activates an output (out1).
However when a switched 240v input is triggered (In2) I need the relay to stop Out1, and power Out2.
During this...
Why is mains domestic power referred to as either 230v or 240v? Why not settle on just one of them? (My limited knowledge tells me that the reality is usually 243v or 237v - is that right?)
Cheers.
Hi All,
I am hoping someone can help me as i am abit confused as to how to connect up a panel saw? My friend has bought a table/panel saw that has got the 240v industrial 16A plug (blue and grey plug similar to the 110v site range). Also the thick flex connected to it has 2.5mm on it so I'm...
Hi guys, i touched on this last night but still can't make my mind up. I am installing 27 downlighters in a house, half up, half down on existing lighting circuits. What are the arguements for using 240v or 12v downlighters. Surely 240 is easier and cheaper? They will be fire rated and I will...
Hi all, still an electrical student so not working at the moment. was advised to start building my own toolbox so am doing this bit by bit. as far as power tools go, going mainly cordless but wondered what to choose for some corded power tools? 240v or 110v? I understand site work is mainly 110v...
Hi Guys/Girls,
I will soon be wiring 2x Amptec boilers, and the instructions are asking for a relay to switch one pump (100w tops).
The instructions say:
240v Relay, 10amps, 2x normally open contacts, coil to contact isolated to 400v.
This relay from Heatrae is £140, can someone point out...
Hi guys just wondering about the advantages and disadvantages of the two. Obviously energy consumption and price being the most obvious points. A collleague told me that the light given off by the 12v type is very poor and recommended the 240v, just want to hear other opinions before i go...
How does this fare for the repetition of box chasing & channelling plaster for chases etc...

My electrician says he can't sign off the installation in my new loft conversion because the 240V extractor fan is in zone 1 (directly above the shower), and hence violates the Regs. He says the easiest option is to replace it with a 12V one, and locate the transformer remotely.
Disappointed, I...
im a builder just finished refurbishing a house and had a call from the house owner saying hes only getting about 195 volts out of his living room sockets does anyone know why this could be?
Hi we have a welder which can pull upto 32A according to the spec. It says I(max) 32A.
The circuit to the garage has a 16A MCB at the consumer unit. It's only powering two double sockets however am going to add a commando. So I wondering if 32A MCB would sufficient or would it have to be bigger...

Can anyone tell me if you can run 240v and 24v in a multicore swa i think i am right in saying if the cable rating of the 24v and 240v are the same then you can, maybe best to clearly label thecable voltages on the cores ?

My dad wants to know if a 12v electrical garden lighting system (incorporating 5-10watt bulbs) would be subject to the same UK regulations as a 240v system, does he need a qualified electrician to set it up properly or is it something he can do safely and easily himself?
I am looking for a 240v 75-100 amp relay. To switch over from mains to generator for power.
The switched cables are 16mm2.
Does anyone know where to get one?
In one of my recent projects in a Victorian house my customer wants to use dimmable GU10. Now, the question is: is there anything to know about them? Last time I applied MR16, I had to pay for the damages with the bulbs, because I didn't know the difference in the transformer... I don't want to...

Hi,
I have a small factory with 3 phase coming into it.
Upstairs I would like to add one more socket to supply a new computer. There are already 4 sockets up there supplying other computers. Is it just a matter of turning of the circuit and extending the ring main?
Thanks for your time
