a 25 mm armoured with a run of about 25 metres , ambient temputure 25degrees, clipped on its own direct to a wall.
it is feeding a supply of a 100 amp switch
someone told me it should be downgraded to a 80 amp ...
just checking through my books and smokeys have to be between 25 and 600mm away from the ceiling does that mean i have to mount them on those round spacer boxes? seems a bit silly to me youd think smokeys would be designed to fit on the ceiling am i wrong about this or am i right about these...
Does anyone understand the logic of 'mandating' 25mm meter tails when upgrading a CU, when the sizing of other cables are left to the electrician's discretion?
I'm again having to explain to a little old lady with not a lot of money that she's need new meter tails with with tiny 6-way board...

Hi
Can anyone confirm. When 25mm tails on a 100amp supply are longer than 4 meters. Do you need to
Downfuse the isolator switch even if cable size is suitable for length of run?
The main tails are sized based on the rating of the main fuse so that regardless of the usage you must use what is standard? I just ask for some different opinions because my boss will probably try to bs his way out of buying some main tails and I need some more ammunition.
Hi every one,
Im new to this forum. FNG!. A simple question that I cant seem to find the answer to is can I run TnE in steel conduit? I know singles would be the best option but the customer has lots of TnE and wants to keep the cost down. I would strip out the cable but I dont have enough...

What size metal adaptable box is best to drill a 32mm hole to install a 32mm swa gland? and if anyone knows of a metal box with a 32mm knockout, better as i don't have a 32mm drill yet.
yes, there's a insulated CU to bring the tails into, so was going to go through the metal box directly...

Just coming back into domestic side of things after 10years on industrail installaion.
Changing cu and tails + earthing, who can we call to get too wire in tails and re-seal meter/main fuse.

Greetings.
I have been working with 25mm tails today and had some tight angles to do.
I wonder does anyone have a preferred method for bending tails, sometimes with a tight angle it's not easy to use my hands and I am loath to used pliers on the insulation.
What sort of angle do you think is...
I've recently relocated a new consumer unit, went to the local wholesalers and they did not have 25mm tails in stock. As it's a 60A main fuse (TN-S) I thought 16mm would suffice so happily installed them.
Just checking through the OSG P17 (2.2.3) and it states minimum cable size should be...
Hi Guys,
Have replaced a 2-tier MK board in a restaurant today, but the 25mm tails are set solid in the wall with no hope of renewing to meter elsewhere. They are too short and I have temporally joined them with 60A connectors.
Anyone got any ideas of the best/neatest way to extend...
If a new consumer unit is fitted with 25mm tails from isolator switch to consumer unit should the 16mm tails from the cutout to the isolator be changed also. Note that the isolator switch has just been fitted with new 16mm tails.
Also should the 10mm main earth be changed to 16mm by the supplier?
