I have a customer who has installed a second empty meter cabinet for a consumer unit to feed several garden circuits. Can a standard metal csu be fitted in here, does it have to be in an ip65 enclosure also or can a ip65 plastic csu be used.
I get csu has to be non combustible within a dwelling...
Does anyone know how a full new CU would be fitted in such a cabinet, without ripping the whole thing out? Anyone ever come across and done one? It looks like no space for a new metal CU, as metal at the top impedes. Maybe move the meter to bottom right, near to where the LAP box is, but seals...
Hi, am installing under cabinet lights as part of new kitchen installation. Would prefer to use 230V light fittings, but one,s I,ve purchased only allow one cable into them, so will need junction boxes. The junction boxes will be on top of the cabinets and lights on the bottom of the cabinets...
Hi, getting a new kitchen installed and I will be installing under cabinet lighting on wall units. Is 240V appropriate for this or is low voltage lighting required ? Thanks
I'm a pretty competent DIYer and always try to follow the relevant IEE/IET regs.
Recently I ordered an LED bathroom cabinet from Amazon to replace an existing broken LED cabinet (the mirror was broken). The new cabinet is made out of aluminium, has LED bulbs in the glass on the front and a...

Hi,
I recently decided to add some undercabinet lights to some kitchen cabinets and bought 240v robus undercabinet spotlights, but upon installation I found that they all flickered slightly - not noticeable from a distance but definitely noticeable close up, especially when doing something on...
Please help, I have just purchased wifi TCP strip light for the kitchen (multi colour and dimmer )
With a plug.
I was really hoping to have them controlled via a 3 gang dimmer switch which controls other lights in the room.
The plug has a 12 v transformer built in so I’m guessing I can’t cut...
Hello I hope you are all well, can this fitting be used as an under cabinet light in a kitchen? I assume as its an LED fitting heat won't be an issue? Thanks Andi

I have 12v halogen lights under my kitchen units and the last one has now packed in. I want to replace with a led strip. The leds are 60pc /m 12v, 4.8w/m, 270/300 lumens/m and came with a miniature type jack plug but I didn’t buy the phone charger type plug to power them as there’s a transformer...

It might seem a simple question, but I have a meter cabinet with a SAFYBOX handle that I can't open. Online information seems to show a 3 point locking system behind the door, but no information on how the handle works. I've tried pulling, pushing, levering, sliding and yelling, but no luck...
Hi,
During these tricky times I decided I needed a drinks cabinet and so bought a vintage Beautility from Ebay. It looks great but the interior cabinet light doesn't function. It's supposed to come on when the door opens and the top of the cabinet puts pressure on the switch turning the light...

I normally use sycamore Sirius which are great but they’re too small for an upcoming retrofit job.
Need to be good quality 4000k. Around 2-3 watt ideally.
Hi,
I am trying to identify this cabinet, it has the trademark of BI Callendar's on the front and the lock on the door looks very 1950s. I have called out SSE and they say the wireing is dead and they think it belongs to BT. I am thiking more like old tramway or street lighting controls. Who...
My understanding is that metal cabinet needs to be grounded to the common or neutral 3 wire.
Questions:
When is 3 wire required and when 2?
Why are some plastic cabinets polarized 2 wire or 3 wire?
Why is this metal cabinet space heater that im try to fix, why its 2 wire and neither is...
