As my family seem completely incabable of turning the bathroom light off, I want to install a time delay switch (like those you get in stairwells in flats etc.) Does anyone know of one that can be easily overridden if someone goes for a bath. (PIR wouldn't work as switch is on the landing).
just a quick one lads, I was sent to a job to change a trip in a pirilli box that was covering the cable going into the house. Then I changed the trip in the house that was covering the house its self. My foreman give me 100Ma time delay for outside and a 30Ma for inside, I thought that we had...
Does anyone know if the reset delay on the Solarmax 13MT can be adjusted and if so how?
We have a site with 9 x inverters and it would be good if we could adjust the reset delay on each inverter to achieve a staggers start over a period of time following a power outage and prevent a possible...
Hello everybody.
I would like to understand how discrimination works for rcd's if say for say a garage supply you would put in a 100mA rcd, while the main board would be protected by a regular 30mA.
So this ensures that a fault in the garage will not disturb the point of origin but I don't...
I'm looking to install an infrared 2 or 3 kw heater in the garden and I've found a couple of switches for it but they're only rated at 1.5kw, here's the sort of switch I want: DS1 electronic time delay switch, two wire [DS1] : Sparks Direct, Lighting and Electrical Wholesaler
I've been advised...
Advice needed please, I was called out last week to a nuiscance tripping problem with an old elcb, IR tests showed up a L-E fault on ring circuit, finaly traced the fault to a wall light run off ring circuit which was shorting out in the socket. I disconnected this, put everything back together...

Hi Guys Could someone enlighten me as to the function of these puppies
They used to run fused spares with electric heaters attached and also had thermostats attached.

Guys can you just confirm please.im changing a db in a house which has a tt supply.
im putting in a dual rcd distboard 30ma on both sides and im going to split the circuits the correct way.
can you please confirm that tt no longer needs a time delay rcd upfront, and the reason why.
thanks
There is an outbuilding attached to garage and the customer would like the lights to turn off after a while so his family dont alwasy leave the light on. I thought a Pneumatic push button time switch would be a good option as you can ajust time or mayb and standalone PIR. Only trouble is the...
Hi
I have just tested a 80A 30mA time delay RCD model MK 5780s.
The times I get are
1/2x - 2000ms at 0 and 180
1x - 0.0ms at 0 and 46.7ms at 180
5x - 10.4ms at 0 and 6.4ms at 180
These don't seem right because I thought time delay RCD should trip at between 130ms and 500ms at 100%...
Hi Guys
I want to install a few floodlight on the side of a building which is in a dark place. Now i want it so i can have the lights on while im in there but i also want them to stay on for 10 minutes after i leave so i can lock the door and find my way to the car. Now the obvious answer is a...
hi guys, done a periodic inspection today, obv you reccomend 17th edtion items to them change of db etc etc, but they will never change it.
todays inspection was tt system, with no time delay rcd, the only thing they had was a 30 ma rcd as main switch which controlled all 16 ways.
so...
What is the maximum time delay that can be set on a earth leakage device, for a tt system, earth rod not installed as yet, would time delay affect the level of ze that need to be achived???
can someone please tell me why when you change an old rewireable fuseboard to a circuit breaker consumer unit does it have to consist of a time delay rcd on a tt system? and also what would happen if you didn't put a time delay rcd in?
