walked into a meeting room at work today and sitting on the table, plugged in was a 5 way extension lead with both 3 pin sockets and 2 pin european sockets.
The sockets are not shuttered, you can see the copper inside and could quite easily get a finger in there, no BS number anywhere on the...

I've encountered a couple of problematic 30mA RCD's recently, they've both passed the 1/2x, 1x & 5x tests but when I ramp them they've been >45mA, which I guess is my tester's limit on the 30mA's, they were different makes by the way.
Replacing them has cured the freaky tripping but I'm not...

Had a new kitchen installed and the guy got the electrics done himself without consulting me. Main bit he did was doing the wiring for the new oven/gas hob. Rest of the kitchen electrics were pretty much untouched. Have since had an electrician round and he's discovered a mix of old out of date...
Just wondering if I'm thinking correctly here....
Newley installed rcbo, but not tripping when tested at x1 and x5 ?
Got to be either a dodgy rcbo unit (was a cheaper make - CED) or maybe a dodgy earth connection ?
Many thanks,

Hello,
The spotlights in my bathroom both have dodgy connections. They go off and I have to jiggle the bulbs to get them to come on.
So the spotlight fittings are obviously not great. The reflectors and lenses are fine, but it's just the crappy plasticy sockets that don't make good connection...

This is a SWA question.
If I have a length of SWA that is not long enough to reach a plastic CU can I jubilee clip around the armour and run an earth braid or cable to the CU.
Basically what has happened is the new CU has been dropped down to a position lower than the old one because it is...
