How do modern digital power meters respond to 'burst fire' or PWM controlled loads , ie Immersun etc,
feeding export power to immersion heaters?
Taking for example a 3kW load, and 2kW export surplus. With the 'burst fire' system, switching blocks of full wave power, the meter would register...
Evening all
Ted kindly posted this link on another thread;
https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/system/files/docs/2016/02/fits_guidance_for_licensed_electricity_suppliers_fit_16_v8.pdf
In it, there is reference to battery storage and export metering as follows;
4.31. If the configuration of the...
More on our take on this at the Leeds Solar blog
in short, bit of a kick in the teeth really, we had 3 customers lined up to have extensions put in based just on getting export payments, and that looked to me to be a sensible start on the gradual road to a zero FITs situation. Suppliers we'd...
Hi,
Mainly been doing domestic installations so far, some small scale commercial still G83.
Finding it a bit of a nightmare gathering all the information and pricing I need to accurately quote for larger size systems.
I think i'm nearly there...
-We will be getting our assessors to measure...
I've just received a letter to say I need a new electricity meter. A smart meter is being offered. I have solar PV with an Immersun diverting excess energy to my water tank, and towel radiators when the water is hot. Hence, my export is comparatively low.
My question is, can the deemed...
We've got a few systems needing export metering, would appreciate pricing and contact info from anyone who's had this fitted recently, particularly in the yorkshire area.
Pricing for fitting and the annual fees would be ideal.
Also does anyone know if the existing half hourly meters can just...
We are having trouble getting any G59/3 applications passed around here now :( I'm not talking Gavin or Jason stylee but 6-12KWp
Is there a reasonably priced way to prevent export and comply with the above?
How much is it typically for metered export?
is this something the utilities want to get involved in?
at what sort of size do you consider it beneficial to switch over? smoke packet answers welcome
Hi all,
Bit of a silly question but one I've never really encountered before.
A customer of ours want an 8kWp PV system, I sent the application off to the DNO but they have come back saying we can only install 4kWp. I believe I read somewhere before that a device can be installed that limits...
Apologies for the lack of detail not a PV installer,
Called to a job where the export meter was periodically going down. (Customer recorded it daily for about a month)
The finger was pointed at the export meter which was a Landis + Gyr.
Changed it for another Landis + Gyr and had a look at the...
Has anyone had any luck with customers negotiating export at a rate higher than the standard 4.77 pence per unit? I've got a customer that will export around 36600 units and another company says it can get him a higher export rate.
Thanks.
Hi Solar Forum
An extension to a solar pv system will require a newgeneration for the extension, I understand that.
The existing solar pv system has an export meter.
Will the extension to the solar pv system also requireits own new dedicated export meter?
The reason I ask is because the...
Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone give give me some advice please. We live in Scotland & have recently had a PV Solar installation, we have an old style, wheel type meter for our billing, & it was recommended that we keep it if possible. All paperwork has been accepted by FIRST UTILITY, then we...
Hi,
I know this topic has been discussed before, but ...
Is it a requirement to install an export meter for systems over 30kW? The building to which the system is attached will consume at least 90% of the energy so it may not be worth the extra cost of export metering compared to a small 10%...
I understand that for a 45kw commercial install we have to include an approved export meter (3 phase). Can anyone confirm what BG consider to be an approved model so we can cost this please? Do they supply or do we?
Can you sell the electric from one business/ address to another business/ address?
or do you need licences and the such which would not make sense for a 30kw array?
thanks rob
I am looking into the financials for domestic solar PV installs and wondered if anyone could help me with the following queries:
1. Whilst the FIT rates are supposedly 'locked-in' for 20 years, is it not possible that successive governments could reduce or abolish these payouts as it suits...
Just in case anyone else had missed this litttle trumpeted morsel of information at the bottom of the latest Ofgem quarterly FIT rates table, the export rate for solar PV is going up to 4.64p per kWh, presumably from 1st April, thought that's not entirely clear.
So that's a morsel of slightly...
Just been talking to Eon about export metering for a 50kW and was told that it would be £600 for the first year but that you can only get export payments for 5 years. I didn't think this was the case about the 5 year cap, has anyone else been told this?
Need to work out if export will be...
