Hi can someone please clear up for me wheather extractor fans are a must on domestic rewires. Some people say you dont have to but some say you do. I always fit them as standard but current builder dosnt want them. Thanks.
Have been informed by building inspector today, that all bathroom fans need to be timer fans even when there is an openable window . Has any one else been informed of this new requirement ?
I bought a new extractor fan but it didn't come with a switch, is it possible to use the switch from the old fan?

Hey guys, I could do with some help.
I'm out doing a job and the site im working on has two buildings, both have a roof mounted exhaust fan for the toilets. Either is working. I've checked and they both have a supply. I have a little experience with motors but not enough for this kind of fault...
OK, I’m sort of qualified – time served on the 14th edition, then left the trade in 1973 – kept my hand in for a few years….. I’ve recently moved into a house which has a lash up of an electrical installation, and I’m tackling one thing at a time. I’m armed with a copy of the 16th edition of...
Hi
After a little advice please. I have an aquarium hood, which has (what i think is called) an inverter. Says 240v 50hz. This powers a small circuit board, which powered 2 240v electronic ballasts, which were dead. I fitted a twin ballast instead.
Also runs some 12v LEDs, and 2 12v Fans.
Its...
Hi

Well chaps ive been looking at the manufacturer requirements for fusing down fans ,an every one appears to require only the permernant live to be fused so having words with those nice people at scolmore click you can do it easily with the grid range that doesnt actually look like grid fuse and...
Regarding a house re wire. Just checking, but does a cooker hood expelling outside cover the issue of having a fan in the kitchen. Assume it removes enough air.
Hi All, I know this has probably been covered in various forms many times before, but I'm trying to achieve a simple effective solution to a number of problems that bathroom fans have.
With reference to bathroom fans, lights, isolation and fusing requirements, does anyone see any problems with...
Few q's to all the pros out there.
Been working with an eletrician ,.....sees to know a bit : however he claims that under new ammendment regs , all bathroom extractor fans need an fcu with a 2Afuse in ? first ive heard of it. so.....
Also , if this is true.: surely they must make a specific...
Hi and hello from this new member

:banghead: Hi All,
Just had my NicEic audit and have been picked up on not fusing extractor fans down to 3amp. Normally the installation of extractor fans would come off a lighting circuit via a 3 pole isolator to the fan, unless the fan has been installed utilising a cct other than lighting I...
I am buliding a porch on my house and i'm going to make half of it into a drying room, so i want an extractor fan with a humidistat so when wet stuff in there drys and creates humidity inside the humid air is expelled via the fan.
as it's a drying room heat loss is an issue, so when the fan...
a chum as asked me to help with a loft convertion, in the area a small shower room is to be installed, consisting of a toilet, sink and shower cubical.....does this need an extract fan and if so what type? The area is approx 3m x2m, ..given a low ceiling height, the fan would be accessible from...
All,
Just had a call from a client who's now had 3 Manrose Inline fans fail in under 1 year. The recurring issue is the blades fall off.
Anyone else experienced this?
Suggestions for a more robust unit?
Thanks all!
