Hi all, wondering if anybody can help...
I have a circular socket for a light in the bathroom which is approx 10cm circumference. It has a small LED bulb fitted but needs a cover but I can’t seem to source the correct part.
Originally it had a square metal plate which fitted over the socket...
As the title states really, I see it has the double insulated symbol but seeing as this is a piece of premium Chinesium I am sure the CE mark is fake as well.
I guess a follow up question would be is it safe to use in this state & if not what can be done to make it safe or is it one for the bin?
Hello all.
I am a fan of the G24 type fitting and have a few pendant lights in my house. In my un educated flurry to buy bulbs I have inadvertantly purchased a Phillips master G24D-2, 2 pin CFL bulb which does not work in my usual G24 pendants. They work with G24 Q2, 4 pin bulbs.
I have tried to...
Hi,
I am a basic DIYer but I think switching wires over is not too difficult a task!
My question is that I changed a pendant light rose - the copper wire is the stranded version. When the wire came out of the connection a little crimp type thing to keep the strands together came off. I...
Hi all,
I would like to find out an average price on how much you guys charge to move a light fitting? Property is less than 2 miles away, upstairs bathroom fitting to be moved, loft is accesible.
I'd like to install a new bathroom light. The new light has simple press and insert connections.
The old light (since it is connected to a bathroom fan as well) has 3 neutral cores, 3 earth cores and 2 (or maybe 3?) earth cores.
I know they won't fit into the new press and insert connection -...
My client has bought these 'antique' lights, stop sniggering at the back, but they are incomplete.
Anyone know what the missing part is and if they can be bought separately?

Is this the kind of thing that's needed?
Hello all
I don't have the installation instructions for a Next 5 light candle bulb chandelier light fitting I've acquired, and it has confusing clear wires.
There's an obvious green/yellow striped earth.
But then there are three clear wires, one with a green thread running through, one with a...
Hi , I've recently moved into a propery with an electric shower installed , there is no isolation switch in the bathroom, the showers seems to be wired directly from the consumer unit , it is on its own supply and can be isolated at the board , is this sufficient to pass an electrical test ? Or...
Hello,
I've recently bought four light fittings (to replace the existing simple ceiling light pendants) that look like the following to wire up:
I've already changed two of the four pendants since they are just a single wire coming in (from the other hallway/landing light) so they were...
Hi Everybody just wondering if anyone has fitted a MK 995 clock connector recently and can advise if it needs a 25mm or 35mm deep box. It must be 30 years since I last fitted one and can't remember. Fitting it in a Grade 2 mansion. 25mm boxes can be fitted without making to much damage but 35mm...
Been round to a mates this morning fitting these things. He bought them new, manufactured by Clipsal, from some online electrical store £150 quid!
Took a few photos to show you what I mean, and how fiddly they are.
so there’s 2 x 1 gang and 1 x 2 gang to fit. Dark wooden surround, and a bag...
Hello all, I need a new cooker, the supplier will only fit it if it's safe to do so, is it possible to tell if it's safe to fit from my photo? Many thanks
Hello I hope you are well, I have a question regarding this light fitting (BELL 10361 Retro Vintage Half Lantern - Black, PIR, IP54) on the product data sheets it states the max lamp that can be fitted is 42W is that 42W total or equivalent it doesn't state? So would a 18W LED GLS be unsuitable...
