Hi all,
BS1363 Switch fused spur with flex outlet has been installed. But the installer hasn't used the flex outlet, they've used singles in conduit and the cable grips are still in place on the spur. However the client has challenged this, implying it should be changed out to a standard spur...
Good evening folk,
Recently took a role that involves using a lot of 2.5 mm 3183Y "pond flex".
Is there an easy way to strip the outer sheath without risk of nicking the inner core insulation? Slicing and tugging might have been OK for the occasional garden light install but something faster...
HI
Under the latest regs can we still wire domestic lights using 5 or 6 core flex for Dali circuits

Thank you

Hi all, have a job doing some garden lights. Want to use flexible conduit as I can fix to a wall that is then being battened out so no need for armoured. I would normally use black .75 pond flex for this sort of job but can only find it in 3 core and need 4 cores. Whats the opinion of using...
As above, making some adapters for my MFT but seems a shame to butcher a set of leads - Ok you'll cut them in half and reuse both parts (banana plug section into a C15 and lead and probe section into a C16 (Male to Female).
Trying to figure if I should just buy a off the shelf 3 phase, 5 pin R2...
Hi all just been to a job where a builder has started a job and left them in the lurch, they have run a 1.5mm flexible cable in a pvc pipe underneath a patio which then comes out through a wall for drive way lighting the run is 5metres, personally I would have done this in swa as In my opinion...
My mum said take a look Dave, think a wire has come out of the hair dryer, so went round and found this , got it home and its a strand on the neutral poked straight through the flex, has anyone ever seen this because I have not.
Unfortunately cant reflex, the plastic handle has also broke so...
When installing multiple downlights, I always use T&E but I’ve seen a few cases where flex is used. Does it matter? Is there a reg or best practice on this? Just interested in peoples input
Hi quick question, I need to removed some LED tape lights I fitted under my kitchen cabinets a while ago in order to fit some profiles. The adhesive they originally came with is not sticky enough to reattach them. Does anyone have any suggestions what to use?
Thanks in advance
Graeme
It obviously been there quite a long time, and someone has chopped it off and just left it hanging. Does anyone recognise the type of cable and have any idea what it the sheath material might be?
I've got this horrible feeling the answer is going to open a can of worms, but I'd like to see what...
Hey,
We are putting in a Honeywell flex alarm. It's all wired in (following the manual). The problem is that all the sensors are coming up as having a short circuit and I can't work out why. I've wired it up with my friend (who is an electrician) and we really can't work out the problem...
Hi guys, I'm currently on a job where we are changing a ---- load of old t5 panel lights over to LED, in ceiling grids.
Now all these are wired to central LCMs or the occasional Klik and the flexs are no more than 5m.
I feel like I should be throwing a few metal cable ties here there and...
Selling a brand new Mira Advance Flex 8.7KW Shower Unit. It’s all boxed and never used.

Hi I have been asked to carry out a second fix on a house another spark wired and now hasn't time to do. When looking at the job I noticed he had used 1.5 t&e from the consumer unit to the first smoke detector then looped around in 4 core flex. Them same was doe on the 2 way Switching extractor...
CP electricians supply a 6 core cable from their lighting control boxes that supplies a mains voltage emergency light,, 2 cores of this are 18v dimmable switching.

Have a job to extend the flex on 2 table lamps.
It needs to be black and as small as possible as it will be on show.
The table lamps are double insulated so only need it to take 2 cores but 3 core flex connectors would be ok as well. doesn't matter if fixed or plugin.
I can find white but can't...
Had a tricky job this afternoon. 5 metre run of 20mm flexible conduit running through stud wall then 90' bend. Really struggled getting any of my mighty rods through (splintered 2 of them)
What's the best method? Is there a specific attachment for rods?
