I've been doing a little research to try and find a suitable LED GU10 retrofit lamp to offer my domestic customers, has anyone found a retrofit that offers like for like in terms of light output and colour? Please give any relevant technical info:
lumen output
beam angle
colour temp

Evening all,
Has anybody come across problems with GU10 halogens causing damage to PVC ceiling cladding? i.e. Yellowing of the finish, melting of the cladding etc?
I know this stuff is fire rated but can't seem to find much information on heat damage from lighting.
Was asked the question...
Good morning chaps,
I stumbled upon this forum and seems to be a good source of experts. I'm not an electrician so hope i'm not breaking any rules by posting here.
We have a house full of low voltage MR16 halogen bulbs. I wanted to slowly change the ones in my kitchen and hall to LED as the...

Hey everyone, just wondering what everyone thinks the best LED GU10 bulb is. Factors include: lux, spread, cost, lifespan, colour and size. Also which make of bulb is most equivalent to the 50watt halogen bulb including all the above factors.
Hi all
I have a light in my living room which are standard GU10 bulbs with dimmer switch, in the last month I noticed that when you turn the dimmer up, the lights start to flicker. Then to get it to be stable, you have to turn it down to a certain point until the flickering stops.
The thing is...
Hiya Fellas. Got a strange one here.
recently done a new kitchen , new CCUs,cables, lights switches etc , basically every thing in this kitchen is new. Its large so there are 4 lighting circuits.3 of which are on a dimmer. Utility room isnt and has a standard 10 amp chrome switch. on 12 spots...
Hello everyone,
lately alot of customers have been asking to change there standard 50watt lv halogen spotlights for the more energy efficient LED gu10's.
My question is... is there a max number of these that can be on a circuit?
Previously the rule of thumb was 10 but with the loads...

Hi,
went to fit 3 downlights today customer purchased them. And they had no earth. i am correct in thinking that downlights metal surely should be earthed? They had the gu10 lampholder then plastic junction box attached. No earth. I drilled the corner and put and attached a cpc, just found it...
This has probably been covered before but I can't find any info on it. Can anyone tell me how some GU10 downlights can be declared class II by their manufacturer when their general build appears to suggest they should be earthed?
One of the three GU10's in my sons bedroom is flickering, the other two are fine. I presume that the bulb is on its way out so i am planning to replace it but thought i may source a LED alternative to the 50w halogen Gu10.
Can anyone reccomend a replacement for the 50w GU10 halogen?
just after some advice/ideas im putting some cladded eiling up in my kitchen and some downlights, just finding it hard on how many to put in, my kitchens 4meters long and 3 meters wide , so i was going to come 1 meter off each wall and have 2 rows of 3, but im worrie this wont be enough, what do...

This may seem a daft question, but can you replace standard 50w GU10 halogen lamps with GU10 LED lamps? I’ve got a customer who wants the lamps changed in his fire rated down lighters. But during a recent visit to the wholeseller, I was told that I could only use LED down lights with LED lamps...
Hi Fella's
Im lighting a barn conversion in a few weeks, there are 18 downlights and LED has been requested (at a budget), Ive got ROBUS fittings but looking for a GU10 LED, I once used the SMD 5050 and found them to be ok but now they have been apparently surpassed by the new NxtGen SMD5050...
Evening all,
Has anyone been fitting "Lamp & Gear" 4W LED's?
I've fitted quite a few, mainly in shop lighting to existing fittings, and have had a few failures, some within weeks. Some have been in downlighters and some in spotlight fittings (not enclosed).
Just wondering if I've been unlucky!
Just after some thoughts really: I want to replace the halogen GU10's in our kitchen downlighters with some LED lamps, I've been waiting for the halogen lamps to start popping and the 1st one popped tonight) I was after some thoughts and opinions from guys using them all the time as to what is...

Hi.
I installed some GU10 LEDs for a customer's kitchen approx a year ago and have had about 4 failures at varying points in the year. Having not being able to establish a cause, I replaced them with CFLs and 2 of these have now failed as well, after just a couple of months. The customer seems...
Haven't used any of these for a while, but today got some and when I went to install noticed they were no longer Class II, have I missed something somewhere?
Hi guys,
Anybody used a 7 watt led bulb? Any comments on the light quality? I've tried a 6 watt Aurora bulb which was sold to me as a 50 watt equivalent. It isn't awful, but it is definitely not equivalent to 50 watts. Also, if anyone is involved in r+d
on led bulbs are you expecting to...
Hey there, just a quick question before i wire all these spot lights.
Iv got a 1.5 T and E fed by a 10 bs60898 would that be enough to supply 20 x 50w GU10 spot lights?
50 x 20 = 1000
1000/230 = 4.34 amp
is that correct?
thanks again
