Hello there
As I understand it an immersion should be on its own dedicated circuit according 17th edition regs. As I am sure many of you have found this is often not the case with older immersion installations. Now we have a number of proportional controllers that have or can have wireless...
Recently had the solarimmersion installed to make use of all the winter sun (lol). NICEIC elec wired it in and I checked his wiring and it looks right to me.
It has been factory reset and cailibrated with the PV turned off and it does have the correct message on the display.
The output goes...
HIi guys,
Had a call out to a property today and looking for a bit of advice. As stated the RCD trips whenever the immersion heater kicks in.
I have disconnected the incoming cables and Insulation Resistance tested them and they come out >200MOhms which is all good.
The element is a Theeta...
Hi Guys
had to do an EICR today for a job on which the installer hadn't certified.
Everything was okay but I didn't know what code to give for the following;
the immersion was supplied via off peak supply on its own circuit but the top element was supplied via the ring main? I remember...
have a customer who's just had a EICR done.has told me he's got a C2 on his immersion heater because it's an unfused 15A plug and socket.Although it's seperately fused in the consumer unit and switched locally, how can that possibly be a C2? he's asked me to remedy it.any suggestions?
Morning all
Has anyone come across or used the Solamiser? GET FREE HOT WATER FROM SURPLUS SOLAR PANEL PV ENERGY WITH SOLAMISER
A fair bit cheaper than the usual suspects, without the bells and whistles, which might make using excess generation for space heating more cost effective. (Pity us...
Hi Guys
I've just come across an old immersion heater which I have never seen before and wonder if you can give me a link to a wiring diagram.
Element in at the top, two elements (different lengths), one thermostat, two cables coming in so each element separately switched, BUT one neutral cut...
Can anybody help.
I have been to various call outs for faulty immersion heaters. Now I know how to test stat, element etc. and how to sort the problem, but what I could do with somebody explaining is why some heaters have a built in reset button and some don't, why some stats have a built in...
I have 2 switches that control my hot water, one is an Economy 7 switch the other a standard immersion heater switch.
I have recently noticed that both of these switches become really hot to the touch if they are left on for about half an hour.
I had noticed them become slighly warm before...
current - 16amp mcb 2.5 radial going through a dp switch 20a which feeds another dp switch 20a which then feeds the two thermostats within immersion ,
i was called because breaker was tripping , immersor pulling 26amps overloading 16amp mcb thus tripping.
immersion system is on the normal...
I've been testing some flats that have immersion heaters, 2 supplies - daytime and off peak. The off peak supply is wired from the meter through a contactor then back into the mcb, with the outgoing supply to the immersion heater coming from the contactor. However, when the mcb is isolated, the...
We started out on the Wooldridge as it was the first proportional controller to market, moved to the Immersun when it came out as it was a bit prettier and programmable.
I am now looking at the Marlec iBoost given Immersuns wireless version still hasn't been launched, anyone got any feedback...
I've now installed 3 different types of solar immersion controllers:
Solar PV heating proportional controller switch Sola Controla beats Immersun PV heating controller

Just doing some minor works on a friends new (old) house. She had an EIC done for insurance purposes. The immersion stat was flagged up as a C1 as it was the old style with no thermal cut out. question is, would you really put that as a C1 on a 20 year old installation? Just wondering.
can anybody tell me if theirs a standard size for a domestic immersion tank element ( side entry )
I have only ever fitted elements that go into the top
Thanks
Today, was a bad day for solar generation for us, any power been generated was used internally by the dishwaster etc etc, however some was avail to the solar immersion device, but very little, so my wife had to turn on the Gas Boiler ( 3yr old Valiant Condenser boiler ) at 6pm'sh to ensure she...
Check it out guys, let me know what you think. Although wireless control is on their technology roadmap, for expediency and early-adopter cost minimisation reasons, this design will be hard-wired to an analogue output from the Elios4You monitoring platform (or via local "Redbox" gateway if...
hi folks, i have a problem with the timer for my immersion heater, it is an old sangamo dial timer with 4 pins, 2 on and 2 off, half the dial is black and half white for day/night.
the problem is a few nights ago the dial stopped and the fuse in the main fuse box was tripped. i only realised...
if anyone knows about immersion heaters ? got economy 7, but my bottom immersion nay heating the water during the night, its getting 240v when the off peak supply comes on but does not heat up! I took a resisitance reading getting 35 ohms off the live to neutral,! just to check I tested the top...
I have a customer who has a dual immersion water heater. The bottom element is on off peak and the top is boost on normal. The customer has PV and wants to use his PV output to heat the water, but only in the summer.
I need to come up with a method for the customer to easily swap the off peak...
