Hello, I am struggling to understand how electricity is generated in an AC generator... I know that there is a coil of wire and a magnet, and both of them have their own magnetic fields and as the magnet moves into the coil's magnetic field, it causes electrons to move in that coil. Well if that...

Hi all, wanted some opinions if possible.
I have a gymnasium that contains 15 400W HID highbay metal halide lights. The lights are a good 8 metres from the floor, accessed only by genie lift. The fittings are about 18 years old. Every few years a full lamp change is done, and i recently did...

Can anyone help?
I recently fitted some 200 watt highbay LVD induction light fittings, they look great they work well and basically do what it says on the tin.
The only problem is, I have been informed by the customer that when the lights are on they are causing an interference with the radio...

Hi guys,
Im getting some mixed opinion about how i should go about wiring in a new induction hob and cooker.
The current cooker is going to be moved above the work surface and built into the kitchen furniture about 4 ft from the floor while the induction hob is going to be fitted into the...
I want to reverse an induction motor (industrial fan, single phase). I've located a site on the net that advises substituting the start capacitor with a choke, specifically the secondary winding of a low voltage transformer. In that case 24v transformer with a 120v supply. I've tried it and the...
I was trying to reduce/monitor our use of electricity using an eon monitor, clamp meter type, by switching our household devices on and off.
When the induction hobb was off at its touch controls, I decided to switch it off also at the Cooker Control Unit, (its own unique isolator on the wall)...

Hi guys I'm installing 2 new circuits for a 30A hob and 30A cooker. I'm drilling holes through joists and clipping direct, the cable run is around 25m each, i'm going to use 4.0mm? We all agree this is ok?
Hey guys stuck on another exam question..
Q. In the case of an induction motor, the magnitude and frequency of the induced rotor e.m.f are at a maximum at the instant the motor is turned on. Explain why this is the case and why both these values reduce as the motor runs up to speed...
hi could anybody help need to find out the following please little stuck
question: show how an induction relay maybe used together with other components to protect against overloads and earth faults on the transition and distribution system
any help would be great thankyou
Obviously it's new technology and not necessarily dealt with in existing regs. But anyone know if diversity is applied any differently when installing ?
ie 10 Amps plus 30% of remaining load. ?
cheers
Hi,
I have recently heard that to fit a ceramic or induction hob, a professional electrician must do it so that you get the correct certificates etc to show when you want to sell your house one day...is this true? Does that mean I can never fit anything myself?

Hi,
I recently bought an ex display Neff Induction Hob. Unfortunately the power cable to it has been cut off and needs replacing. Is it possible to fix this? Where can I get a new cable from? Will I need a wiring diagram? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
JLO
