Hello while 255V seems to be a normal voltage for low voltage networks it causes issues to my solar installation where the inverter works up to 240V.
Any idea why Western Power increased the voltage?
Hi,
Does anyone know if i can still get indoor light switches with the older style 40mm between screws istead of the more standard 60mm between screws? Ive been looking for a while and cant find any, the house was build in the 30's im guessing that was the standard back then.
Cheers
My lovely wife has requested I fit these as bedside lamps: Circular Pendant Light - https://luxeology.co.uk/products/gold-pendant-lamp-1
Sounds simple enough.. But the walls are solid and the room recently decorated, so chasing cables to install a new light switch on either side isn't really an...
hi i need a relay instead of a contactor for a large room with two electric ufh mats, relay will be quieter than a noisey contactor, need 16amp 2or 4pole 230v,
Where do youguys/gals buy yours?
I realise this has been asked before, but I find the search bar really poor on the site since the big change and it doesn't come up with anything useful.
I am getting more extractor fan installs that require wall mounted fans. Instead of hiring a core drill once a year I wondered if anyone uses...
I just have a few more tweaks to do, but we're now running on HTTPS instead of HTTP. Which is more secure and prevents the likes of 'man in the middle' attacks when you're out and about browsing our forums.
Note that we also allow two-step verification for logging in too. So that you get...
Hi guys,
New to the forum and would much appreciate your opinions, I'm wiring a power radial circuit for one double socket for a customer, however part of the run (2 meters) will run on the outside of the house and then back inside, up from the ground floor to the first floor. The customer has...
The LED light is for a moth trap (identifying not killing).
At the moment I'm using 8 AA batteries. The batteries are 2000 mah so 1.6 amp hour in total (I think my maths is correct on that- 2000mah x 8 = 16000 divided by 1000 = 1.8 amp hour).
The boost buck regulator has 9.6 volts going in...
I've used 150, 185 and 240mm trip flex on large installs before contained in metal trunking.
Is there any reason I can't use 35mm for a 100amp 3phase install contained in plastic trunking? Bend radius and access is going to be tricky and a pain with solid core.
Hi lads, yesterday morning there was a fault with the incoming electricity supply in that there was only 140 V between live and neutral instead of the usual 230 V.
Could anyone provide me with an explanation for this?
Thanks
hello all.
My Milwaukee drill has finally let me down and I must say the quality on my newer Milwaukee 12v drills are not the same I believe. Im tempted to look at hilti sfc -22a drill. Hilti are based 5 minutes away from me and I've rated them since I've been working but I finally now have a...
I had an odd one today.
I was investigating a problem with a light that was not working. As it turns out, it was multiple loose connections causing the problem.
The circuit is wired in old unearthed two core cables making the contact voltage tester a waste of time.
At the light fitting there...
Morning all,
Last night at college we moved on to RLC circuits in parallel, the type you'd typically find in a fluorescent light to correct power factor.
We drew out some parallelograms to work out the true current usage and power factor after adding a capacitor. The lecturer said that's all...
hi
I was on a job testing incoming supply on a TT systems the earth loop reading was 2,53ohms now what my question is
It was a 2 commer 53 i am guesting that means 2.53ohms if you test result are lower you get 0.12 (point )why does it change to a commer or am i reading it wrong
I've always been partial to a bit of advice in this area across all trades, how do YOU sort out non paying customers?
Say the work went well and as planned, as agreed before work starts but the customer decides this wasnt what he wanted for his m oney and refused to pay up, whats your methods...
I could do with keeping the range of switches the same.. Screwless flat plate toggle switch but can't find a 2gang intermediate toggle.
An ebay seller (291055653971) has a diagram configured with 2way only but I cant see how!
Alternatively if anyone knows a range that has a 2g intermediate in...
Hi All
Last year I completed my C&G Level 3 and have been working as an electricians mate gaining excellent practical experience.
I have learnt that 2391 has been replaced by 2394 & 2395? Does anybody know the difference as I am getting conflicting advice.
I want to become a fully qualified...
New shaver socket outside zone in bathroom. (FCU outside the room,17th ed'n board).
Checking the bathroom to see if any supplementary bonding needed, turned out the sink and bath taps were hovering at about 5K Ohm (ie >1667 and < 22K).
Turns out the owner had interrupted the hot and cold Cu...
Foreword: Apologies if this is repetitious, I did a google and came up with nothing.
Story time: I have just had my meter relocated by Scottish Power and it now sits in a spanking new box, terminating at a dipole isolator and earth block (which I assume is standard stuff). Now, since we are...
Found these online earlier...
LINE 32A IN LINE [LIL32] - £0.11 : for electricians by electricians
Never used them personally, anyone got any opinions?
Can they be heatshrinked like a crimp or do they have to be within and enclosure?
(by the way, this is my second attempt to post on this...
