Using MCBs instead of switch fuses on tail extensions????

If you extend meter tails more than 3m you need a switch fuse, right? Would you be able to use, say, a 100A DP MCB in an enclosure instead? If not, why not? Ta.

Patress instead of knock out?

Duuuudes. Bit of a stupid question but something that has never occured to me before. Can you use plastic patresses instead of metal knock-out boxes when putting sockets flush with the wall (i.e. chased into the wall)?? Is there any reason why you shouldn't?

90v instead of 0v

Hi sorting out a couple of light fittings yesterday and found there were 2 live conductors a neutral and earth coming from inside. one of the lives was 240v and not switched at all, the other one was switching from 240v to 90v. chap didn't want his floorboards up so for now isolated the switched...

hello chaps iv just been asked how much id charge to fit a fuse spur for heating and supply a electrical installation cert i quoted him £100 all in, ya thoughts would be great cheers

Is it legal/complient to not bury armoured cable, but to run under hedge instead?

OK, I have an electrician working at my house next week. He claims he is certified ( ie can self certify for building regs etc ). I believe him, most of his work to date has been of a good standard. He is putting power into a workshop at the rear of our garden. He is replacing our house...

i am installing fp cable for a fire alarm system grade a ld1 under house floor but it is inaccessible because floor board is lifted only every few metres. i need to use trunking to secure the cable that can be cut into short sections and then assembled into a long piece when under the floor. can...
