New shaver socket outside zone in bathroom. (FCU outside the room,17th ed'n board).
Checking the bathroom to see if any supplementary bonding needed, turned out the sink and bath taps were hovering at about 5K Ohm (ie >1667 and < 22K).
Turns out the owner had interrupted the hot and cold Cu...
Foreword: Apologies if this is repetitious, I did a google and came up with nothing.
Story time: I have just had my meter relocated by Scottish Power and it now sits in a spanking new box, terminating at a dipole isolator and earth block (which I assume is standard stuff). Now, since we are...

LINE 32A IN LINE [LIL32] - £0.11 : for electricians by electricians
Never used them personally, anyone got any opinions?
Can they be heatshrinked like a crimp or do they have to be within and enclosure?
(by the way, this is my second attempt to post on this...
Finally decided its a load of rubbish and won't be renewing it, Elecsa.
Had enough of having to abide by there rules and fork out hundreds on a yearly inspection a chimp could pass.
Decided instead to get this new meter, should be the end to all my scam worries.:drool5:

Currently there's a two-way switch in operation at each end of a hall. Customer wants to be able to switch from upstairs as well, but cable run-wise it's much easier to run to upstairs from the switch which is currently...

I'm starting out in the domestic electrician world shortly and wondered who else uses a normal saloon car to run their business. I have all the tools I need and can...

I've recently had an electrician around to do an EICR on my HMO property. The property consists of four flats (each flat on their own floor but not accessed via one door hence a license able HMO even though they each have separate metering for utilities). The property was completely...

Anybody else tried using WD40 when threading conduit? its also good for cleaning the threads as well after you have filed the end with a round file (or used your pliers) and cleans away metal dust better than an old rag....also less messy than Tallow :innocent:
I haven't seen this job yet (going in morning) but apparently the customer's builder has found that the majority of cables for upstairs circuits have been pulled through past a metal joist and it's skinned a few of them, their re-wire about 10yrs ago was a complete shocker so I'm not surprised...
Hello everyone,
one of the electric lines in my house suddenly began losing power, it shows only 100 volts instead of 122 like in other lines, as a result I can't use it and it's one of the main lines in my house. Can someone please give me an advise what I should do to fix it?
How can I find...

Just wondering if some of the experts thought there were definite advantages & disadvantages of splitting the incoming tails using a Henley Block etc and supplying a separate dedicated supply to the PV system as opposed to simply using a dedicated MCB/spur within the CU ??

My daughter has one of those IKEA LED light strings over her bed powered by 2x AA batteries. After about 2 nights the lights are noticeably dim (depending on how long after she goes to bed I manage to sneak in and turn it off for the rest of the night).
Got me wondering, as I have a few mobile...

Just had a little brainwave driving through a suburban village I was working, would just like some feedback to see whether its a good idea or not.
Work has gone a bit quiet this month, so we planned on getting some flyers printed and go door to door. Although I hear response rate is like 1%...
Can we have a system where every installation has its own log book, where it details any work carried out by who, with their own personal registration number, so all work is traceable, if needed. Every notifiable job done, will be sent directly to bco for a fee of £10, larger companies will end...

Is it OK to put a 20 amp joint box on instead of a 5 amp on a lighting circuit, baring in mind it will be about to be tested? I know its a bit of a stupid question. Is just because I have no 5 amp lying around.
Cheers.
