Hi all,
There is a parrallel thread about your favourite VDE screwdriver,
What is the exact reason you prefer one to the other ?
In your opinion, what makes a good electrician screwdriver, and what's the common weakness of each insulated screwdriver you already used ?
Only reason I can see is if accessories might be changed to those with metallic enclosures in the future and then you'd need to pull a CPC in which would be a big hassle?
No sockets, just lights which are supplied with 2 core flex, Ansell 50w led floods.....linked by PVC conduit, fully enclosed...
I want a set of philips screwdrivers that are heavy duty for screws that need many torque to unlock. For example screws on connection box of a motor. There is no need for insulation for this use, but i would to have it in case of a need. What would you suggest? I could buy them from amazon or ebay.
Just about to fit a new amendment 3 board, haven't installed one yet although have worked on a few BG ones.
Yesss are having an open day on Friday and the easy 9 is down to £65 for a 10 way, same as the MK, what's people's preference?
Following on from http://www.electriciansforums.co.uk/electrical-forum-general-electrical-forum/106222-watch-out-im-fitting-plastic-db.html I wonder how many of us have ever seen a fault from tails to a metal cased CU, I haven't in 35 years. Whether a TT and a live case....or a TN and a real...
This question is to help my understand of an insulated neutral system and what happens during an earth fault.
I understand that the system is earthed through capacitance, and that voltage will charge and discharge through the fault. This will cause voltage stress in the functioning phases due...

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this place and only doing my training at the moment.
The guy I'm working with and me are currently on a job where we are wiring up to a meter. The meter tails are double insulated and are about 300mm long. They are connected into a fused isolator in the meter box.
What...
Hi, doing new build first fix ,chased wall for 25mm conduit to run ring mains on 32 amp rcbo (TT installation) behind 50mm insulated platerboad, is OK to run in 2.5 t&e. Without factoring in thermals, would be very expensive to beef up to 4.0mm.
Hi,
Can anyone clarify for me the requirements regarding either the RCD protection of tails or glanding of tails entering a metal consumer unit in a TT system. With specific forethought to the upcoming amendment enforcing all metal consumer units.
Cheers
