Goya call from old lady saying over the past year she has changed around 40 lamps ( some exploding ) in her bungalow !! Other than cheap lamps any ideas ? Different light fittings I am told.
I am going to investigate on Thursday any pointers?
Cheers

Just been to a rental property where the tenant reports bulbs blow every couple weeks throughout the flat. Have checked fittings and carried out necessary tests etc but cannot see anything obvious.
Appears to have been rewired within previous 5-6 years.
Any suggestions?
Hi all,
I am in need of some advice.
I have just fitted a new ceiling light fitting in a bedroom. It replaces a single light (bayonnet 60W). The switch is a dimmer.
The new light has 3 G9 halogen lamps which are of course dimmable.
After fitting it, the dimmer does not work. I cannot switch...
I had a look at some fire rated GU10 downlighters today for a friend, as they said that the bulbs were blowing frequently. I think this is just an aspect of GU10's that we have to live with. However I was astonished when I pulled the unit out of the ceiling how hot it all must have gotten. The...
Doing some work in an old ladies house and she has asked for illuminated light switch locators at the top and bottom of the stairs as well as other key rooms in the house.
I normally use the MK ones which give a light green colour around the swich but I cannot use them this time as the lady has...
Can anybody advise on the following.
Have 4 5w led gu10 bulbs with a v pro series dimmer rated for low wattage lamps. The bulbs are dimmable but when the dimmer is switched on as soon as it is turned down the bulbs flicker badly.
Any advice appreciated.
Some of you may know this already but I'll post this anyway.
I've installed some GU10 LED fittings today to replace some normal GU10 fittings, first 40 or so went absolutely fine. Then in one bedroom, when the switch was off the lights would either dim down to about quarter brightness or start...

A client has just called to say that he wants to swap his 70W (ES) SONi lamps for something that gives a white light. Does anyone know whether you can fit certain HQI or MBFU lamps straight to the SON fitting or will he have to replace the control gear/ fitting?
Thanks
Hi everyone,
I have been given the job of installing twelve 70w SON-I light fittings to light up an equestrian arena. The arena is in the middle of a field nowhere near an electrical supply. Therefore we are going to use a generator. The question I have is twofold. Firstly what size of...
Hi,
Lighting circuit trips the RCD.
took out all the lamps and it holds. Put any lamp back into any light on the circuit and it trips. All but one of the light fittings on the circuit are Class 1.

Customer wants downlights installed but doesn't want to pay for robus or jcc led downlights.
Can anyone recommend the best led lamps or good alternatives they can put in gu10 downlights.
Thanks
As the title says really. My hairdresser has a number of these, retro fitted into downlights and they are failing often. From what I could tell today they were exceptionally hot, as was the surrounding metal casing.
My best guess is to bin the fire rated enclosures to reduce the heat?? ( they...
Hi guys, hope you're all well.
I have available a rake-load of Philips 90W CPO-T metal halide lamps - they were removed from a customers' premises as we proactively re-lamp the fittings as a matter of course every 2 years, supposedly to save money on reactive maintenance!
They were destined...
