Ok.. So iv been asked to check out a friends flat in which they think there's an earth leakage? I haven't spoken to them direct, only thru the misses!! Great start!
They say that when they have there speakers on, then turn the microwave or tumble dryer etc on, they get a banging noise thru the...
Hello all,
I've been looking for a while for a clamp meter that includes earth leakage, along with resistance and voltage. Some of the earth leakage meters that seem to do a reasonable job and are fair priced dont make it clear if they also test voltage/resistance which i would want as well...
Hi Guys, now here's a strange fault.
I have recently installed a new split MK consumer unit.
All circuits have high IR and the RCDs were tested by a Robin tester from all sockets and oven and lighting circuits etc, all good.
When I switch "off" my garage lighting, which is 3 fluro fittings the...
Hi All
I have a prob i hope someone has come across
clients RCD is tripping at odd times. Doest seem to be any pattern or any specific piece of equipment causing it. Not one particular circuit either...trips on downstairs ring, upstairs ring, lightings ...you name it.
Wont reset until all mcbs...
Hello again and thanks to everyone who helped me out with a recent issue.
This one is trickier, at least to me - Let me outline the scenario - if I leave some detail out, please bear with me as I'm now off site and I'll try and reply in good time.
I'm working on an old croft house in Scotland...

Hi
I have just installed a running machine in my garage, the running machine is in excellent condition, I have lubricated the belt and there are no obvious damage to any of the flex.
The problem is that after around 5-10 minutes of use the treadmill will trip the power to the whole house...

Hi guys. slighty baffled by this one.
Rcd tripping intermittently when 3x 16watt 2d lights are switched off at the wall switch. Carried out ins res tests... All ok. Lights turn on fine and only trips 2 out of 10 times when turning switch off. possibly inductance causing earth leakage??

Morning all.
I'm in search of ideas.
Been installing an induction hob on a 6mm radial backed up by a 32a mcb. Came to power up yesterday and with all hobs on its throwing out the 30mA main switch rcd. (It's a TT system). Iv tested all my cables and there all clear so it's taking it out on...
my rcd 30ma trips everytime i put the iron on, it lasts a couple of minutes then trips , all sockets and lighting trip ,so its a big inconveinience,, any advice would be a great help. thanx,

Hi Every one, I have been asked to look at a problem in a toilet when the light is turned off the RCD trips intermitenetly but not when it is turned on. There is a fan and small flourescent shaver light in the room . the instalation was rewired by me about 10 months ago all the test results were...
Dear all,
The consumer unit main RCD (80A, 30mA)keeps tripping. We've noticed it when my stepson plugs in a laptop on the upstairs ring main and also randomly when nothing else is in use (eg at night) and we suspect it's the fridge freezer turning on and off. (downstairs ring main) or when...

Hi all.
Need some help,I fitted a new dual rcd board today and have problems with the RFC tripping the RCD. Test results for circuit are as follows, r1=.34, rn=.36, r2= .81 (r2 a little higher than expected but I think still o.k?) I.R= 10.6 M ohms.lower than I would like but still acceptable...
Hi Guys, I am in the market for a decent earth leakage / Clamp meter, Currently using a Metrel 61557 MFT for day to day use but looking to upgrade when calibration is up. Any of the new tester incorporate this?
For Sale, bought in April never used (decided against offering a PAT testing service). Cost over £700 will accept £500

Hi have a problem which I hope that somebody can shed some light on.
New install on existing TT supply, with two DBs fed from an SWA sub main with 100mA S type RCD and 100A switchfuse at the origin (no other loads on supply).
DB 1 is for a new install and all circuits are protected with 30mA...

Just got back from a call-out, simple case of cooker taking the RCD out. A twin oven, seems in good working order so after a bit of a faff managed to get a clamp over the cpc at the switch (no idea where the house rod is!) and sure enough the bottom oven is leaking about 10mA when firing. So...
I have a fairly elderly MEM 8 way board with a 100A 30mA RCD main switch which takes out the whole board when it trips. About a month ago I put in a new circuit to an upstairs annexe in a garage (16mm SWA, TT rod and RCBO's in a separate CU). About 2 weeks ago the electricity board were doing...
