Hi all.
I've got my Elecsa assessment on 3rd Jan and I'm using a new CU and partial rewire on my own house.
My question is this. My main water pipe (which is lead) enters the house under the floorboards. However all water pipes above the floorboards are plastic.
Would you say that the pipe...
Can i add new circuits to a system (rcd protected ofcourse) with under sized main protective bonding, without having to upgrade to 10mm2?
E.G tn-c-s earthing system with 6mm2 protective bonds but should be 10mm2 as neutral is less than 35mm2, This could be a code 4 on a pir or code 3 on a ecr...
I have a CU change job and the water pipe supplying the house is lead. The lead enters the house then runs right under the house and into the kitchen where it is jointed to copper. The regs say bond where it enters the house (which is convieniently underneath the CU), but there appears to be...
hi, just looking for some help on how to install the main bonding on a large industrial building.
Firstly the supply neutral to the building is over 150mm so am i correct thinking i need to use 50mm bonding conductors for water etc?
Secondly the MET is about as fair away as possible on this...
Hi all, been sifting through the posts but just wanted someone to clarify what is acceptable in my circumstances.
Full rewire done but property has concrete floors in places. A 10mm Earth exists to gas and water but was broken at the gas earthing clamp. Im aware of an unbroken loop been...
TN-S, 60A Main Fuse, 16mm Tails, 16mm Earth.
Question - CU change required & at the moment has 6mm Main Earth Bonding to gas & Water, less than 0.05 Ohms continuity measured & good condition. I'm pretty sure that this 6mm size Main bonding is compliant - just thought i would check if i should...
Just a question on main bonding to the main incoming gas pipe.
Where the location of the gas pipe is to be laid and where it is in relation to the MET in the CU, I was wondering if it is allowed to bond (with 10mm earth) the main gas pipe directly to the earth rod? (TT system).
I am guessing...
Just been to a house no bonding on gas or water. Bonded gas as enters by cu 10mm all done and sorted. Water enters property at other end of house supply is black plastic pipe with stop tap on end then house pipework has been run in plastic. Is bonding to water still required as surely earth...
reg 544.1.2 (BRB) (still waiting for my LGB) states "as near as practicable to the point of entry of that service into the premises"
So here we go, doing a partial rewire upgrade of circuits etc, new gas main coming in, from out the external box chased in to the wall up in to the loft...
Bugger that's supposed to say BONDING not BOINDING !

I've been asked to install a new CU at my mother in law's.
She has recently had a new kitchen installed where new lights, and extra sockets were added (circuit extended) for the fridge and (gas) cooker.
These sockets BTW...
Hi, new to forum so any help appreciated.
I have just looked at an installation where the boiler is fed via x4 gas bottles, where the copper pipe enters the building it only protrudes by a few mm then bends straight into boiler housing, so very little access. do we still need to main bond this...
Got a job where the incoming water main has got 50mm bond back to the nearest stantion as in building structure upright, which i suppose is a pretty decent earth
But how do i test the continuity back to the MET? (less than or equal to 0.05 ohm) etc, which is about 150 metres away.
This is my first post and hoping someone can help?
Just wired an external combi oil boiler. I ran a 10mm bond from CU to the incoming pipes which are all 22mm and 28mm copper. They come through the wall from outside and I have put an earth bonding clamp on each pipe and looped the bond between...
I have been asked to update the installation at the home of a friend. He has a TNCS system so the main bonding (at present non-existent) needs to be 10mm. Problem is that the water and gas mains rise in the kitchen about 10 metres away from the cu which is in the garage. It seems crazy to...
Need some advise,
Carried out a Periodic Inspection on friday and the main earth conductor and the main Bonding to the steel was in fine stranded cable. Never come across this before and cant find anything in the regs to say if its wrong or not, so just wanted to check if anyone knows for...
Hi guys quick question, Im doing a PIR and i cannot verify Bonding to the incoming services, gas is boxed in and water is behind a built in washing machine which im unable to move without taking the unit apart and removing the washer. As it is for a possible buyer of the property the current...
