Just completed 15 new builds and on 3 properties the main bonding was run through the pvc sleeve which the gas pipe runs through the caverty wall to the meter outside.
Have now been told that they may not connect the gas meter to those properties unless the bonding is re-routed.
Cannot find any...

Hi all,
just took main protective bond (10 mm) to water pipe which is of the old lead type.
Main bond length is about 4 meters.
Cross bonded to rads and sink(utility sink)
Then did R2(using 2.5mm) to pipes under the kitch sink.
Reading was 0.10 ohms.
regs say max allowed value is...
Working at a house today that had a 10mm earth run to the main incoming water but then a seperate 10mm to the incoming oil. Just wondering if this should be just one continuous run going from cu-water-oil or is this acceptable?
Evening all, bit late I know but...
Just been to a house today and the owner (rental) wants me to do the remedial work thrown up by a PIR made by a different company.
There are a few areas that need attention but one of the items on the list was no main bonding to water.
There is 10mm main...
I did find the answer pretty much to this in an old thread & was answered by Chris...
But wonder if I could get a few more suggestions as to being correct.
Installed a Main Water Bond from a DB Board to the Main Incoming water supply which was (in my opinion) well over 25m away. We ran it along...
Alright fellas,
Went out to wire in a boiler today and the plumber has cut the water main bonding:eek: to make "a bit of room"

I was thinking possibly a crimp?
any ideas?
Hi guys. I know this is an old question but after reading previous threads there still seems to be a lot of disagreement on the issue. I need to replace the CU in my mum's house but need to sort out the main bonding first, (there is none!!). The water is not a problem as it enters the property...
Just wondering what people generally do when these are missing or very old and obviously not up to the job. Do you put 16mm and 10mm in regardless or do you actually calculate it and see if 10mm and 6mm would satisfactorily cope.
Reason why i ask is i was in a large diy store and was shocked at...

Hi
When measuring Zs on circuits do you guys leave the main bonding connected or disconnect it? Most of my testing books including GN3 say leave it connected, but another book by Anthony Hinsley says to disconnect it as it will introduce parallel paths (which I get) and that if left connected...
Would it be okay to use the existing the old green sleeved 6mm main bonding cable to gas/water as customer does not want any wiring or floorboards lifted up.
Will i have to state this in the departures box or comments box that mainn bonding was not upgraded
Hi all,
New to this forum so I'll introduce myself as an electrician working for an NIC approved contractor in Sussex.
Last week I did a PIR on a church and the only defect was a lack of main bonding to the lightning conductor. Bs 7671 lists this as a requirement but I cannot see why it is...
Hi Gentlemen
A question regarding bonding the main water. The main water pipe intothe property is lead and runs upstairs before any copper is fitted. What is the common practice with lead water pipes ?
Thanks in advance for any advice...
So what is really deemed as an acceptable conitnuity on your 10mm main b and 16mm earth b then?
So its continuous, but what do we need for speedy tripping etc then?
Thanks guys!
