Hi all,
I need to add a second, 4 way, consumer unit at a customer's house. I have bought the unit and some 16mm tails. Would I be able to add those 16mm tails into the main switch of the primary CU or would I need to put a Henley block in the orginal tails?
Thanks very much
My my next door neighbour have Said they have been having probs with there RCD. The test button was not working. When I looked I notices that the instead of a main switch it had a 63a 30ma RCD. Any got any thoughts on this, does not seem quite right to me.
Is a rcd allowed as a main switch under 17th edition regs.

Bought a wylex consumer unit today. 100A 30ma RCD as main switch. But then read this line: RCD main switch cannot used as main board per BS7671. Anyone knows this Reg number?

Hi
I'm replacing my CU at home for my elecsa assessment. There isn't currently a RCD on my board so I will be installing a split load CU with a RCD for the circuits that supply my bathroom. This is probably a silly question but the connecting wire from the main switch to the RCD shares the same...
Hi All, the company that i work for nearly allways put that there is "no main switch to isolate the entiire installation", (except when it does). eg: no main switch that isolates all sub-dis boards, i think this is wrong, the regs say that isolation should isolate the installation or a...

Hi, doing some work in a bathroom at the moment - just on the lighting circuit. Ext fan & ELV lights. As the house has no RCD protection at all I'm obliged to add it. All circuits are split between two 8way consumer units, each with main switch and MCBs. My options for adding RCD protection are...

Hi all,
I have a small electric oven which I have been using occasionally for grilling and baking for over 2 years. Since last week whenever I try to switch it on my mains cuts off and I loose power to all the wall sockets in the house.
I have replaced the 13v amp and unplugged other items...
I need to down rate 80A Fused Main Switch (KMF) fitted with 80amp HRC fuse to nearest rated fuse for16mm swa burried 2 core cable.
Believe this would be 63A. Can't seem to find one does anyone know best and fastest supplier or if there is one closer to the 78A max for the cable.
I'm rewiring a bungalow and currently the supply is a TT system and the meter and distributors switch is in a garage about 50 m from the bungalow. The supply up to the bungalow is currently wired in 10 mm SWA via a fused isolating switch. The owner is getting this system swapped to PME.If i wire...
Can a (eg, MK BS4293 63A 30mA) RCD be used as a main switch in a CU if it's the ONLY source of switching for that CU? I'm about to start work on a CU with RCD-Breaker-Breaker-Breaker-etc-Main Switch-Breaker-Breaker-Breaker-etc.
I obviously need to add a new RCD for the second split but would...
