Howdy all,
I need to swap a 30mA RCD out of a Square D garage board, ideally i'm after a main switch but a 100mA would do. I just spoke to a chap at schneider who i had a strong feeling i was keeping awake, and they say that they dont do a main switch compatible with their garage unit!?
So...
I don't know if any of you have found this before. During a test today I was finding the Zs on the circuits higher than expected, I tested the loop on both sides of the main switch (new MK dual RCD board) and there was a 0.5 ohms difference!! I have had this before on an RCD and replaced the...
I have just fitted new consumer unit (wylex) but absolutely no markings on the switch or the box/info sheet.
Its a standard 17th unit split load 2 rcds and 10 circuit breakers.
Any ideas
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help
Hello all,
I have been to a property with a crabtree starbreaker board main switch is 80A 30ma rcd.
The customer thought the dishwasher was tripping electrics I teste IR when I tested RCD it tripped on times half!
I have ordered a new one but when the breaker is turned off for the PV the rcd...
Hi chaps,
come across interesting one whilst sorting another problem out.
modern three phase board in a small private care home. (i was checking why the spa rcd was tripping)
Took the cover off the main switch ( to check Ze) and found a 1.5mm fp200 cable connected to one of the incoming...
Hi all, any ideas as to why this installation has an isolator next to the main switch? To my inexperienced eyes, this seems unecessary waste of real estate.
I've seen various posts about this but wanted to start a new one, nothing like repitition. I am installing a new CU and it currently has an 80amp DP isolator between the service head and two split old wylex rewirable boards. I will be installing a 14 way board which comes with an 100amp Main...
Do you prefer to do them I prefer Main on left breakers to the right 6A > Highest reason for asking ? I have seen a few pics on here of late with main on right.

Hi all just a quick one, what's are view on using 63a, 30 ma RCD as the supply to a self contained flat CU within a house?
Basically im doing CU change & remedial's after EICR, many circuits so gona need large CU or 2 * 10 way split load, 1 for the household standard circuits & separate for...
If a install is not provided with a main isolator who should out one in?
Old install, no main switch, just the fuse then meter
Should i install one for the customer or should it be to request the DNO to install after the meter? The tails from the meter are more than 3mts long so it needs to be...
had a call out today where the RCD would not hold, at first i hadall the MCB's off and ramp tested the RCD and it was tripping at 12-13 mA consecutively.
i've briefly tested all the circuits and theres no earth fault, i've had a clamp meter on the earth and switched on all MCB's individually...
I was called to a job today where the Main switch was faulty it was switching the Live but not the neutral, so when i measured between the neutral bar and earth, i was getting 240v, why would this be happening? once the switch was changed over to a new one, everything was ok, measured neutral to...
Hi quick one if you come across the meter tails coming from the meter to a henley block then from henley block to main switch on consumer board, if you replaced that consumer board would you still need to remove main fuse or could you just disconnect from henley block and leave fuse intact...
hi, done my 2391 years ago and not done much testing since. On the forms it asks for details of Main switch; which switch does this mean ie- the one between the cut out and db or the one actually on the db? also when its a split board with switch and rcd; the rcd results for the protected...
Hi,
Trying to add an RCD to a wylex board that never had one. My issue is to get hold of those flexi cables that connect it to the DP main switch and the neutral bar. I have managed to get a set for a twin RCD board but does anyone know where to buy them in required lengths individually?
Thanks!
Evening all, silly me forgot to make a note of the BS EN number for the 63A Main switch I installed on my recent job. I've been hunting high and low through various catalogues I have at my disposal and it appears that I am fighting a lost battle.
Would anyone have one to hand so that they...
