Guys just a quick one to see if any one can tell me the correct reference method to put down for this.
EICR on house the guy has done DIY himself and spurred of a socket drilled through outside for some PIR outside lights.

Some of you may remember that both myself and Gavin A wrote Mr Angry letters to Gemserve/MCS on this subject. (http://www.electriciansforums.co.uk/photovoltaic-solar-panels-green-energy-forum/75215-mcs-guide-installation-photovoltaic-systems-shading-3.html) Without boring you with the...
Hello electricians
Today I've come across a lighting circuit, when doing a eicr as you do, and what I have witnessed is the lighting is wired using the junction box method with the earths wrapped around the box. All separate earths go to each point. What code would this warrant.
Guys just for your thoughts,
I was on a site recently and we encountered the local PAT guy, luckily we as a company don't do PAT so I have limited knowledge on the subject.
He was using an extension lead and testing about 10-15 items in one go and then stickering them all up after testing all...
Hi again,
2.5 TE cable installed within fully insulated partition walls which i would of thought is now pretty mush standard now on new builds / refurbishments. According to OSG guide table F6 page 150 Ref method 103. 2.5mm cable down rated to 13.5 amps! Radial for imm/htr...
I'm after the current best practice advice from you guys about an installation I'm looking at.
I've been out of the trade for quite a while and have just renewed my Part P etc and am getting ready to get stuck in.:gunsmilie:

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could share their knowledge in removing a module that is surrounded by many others on a roof. There is adequate roof access & mansafe points to harness to but it was more the electrical safety issues relating to isolation & removing a row of panels to access the...
" The supply to the detached workshop has been installed using a two-core steel wired armoured cable (SWA). Describe the most appropiate method of testing continuity of CPC to this distribution circuit "
I have always been told/understood that the reference method for cables buried in plaster was reference method c (clipped direct), however I have seen reference made to reference method a (enclosed in conduit in an insulated wall). Does anybody have a definitive answer please?
CU job for a customer on a bit of a budget so little room for alterations.
Part of the job, I find a small single garage conversion to ground floor bedroom (ie a small room), converted in 1980’s. Found to have it's four sockets supplied via 1.5mm ring.
Anyhow, reconnecting into new CU, I...
Does anybody use method 2 regularly apart from the main bonding and if so do you not do the r1r2 value. Just really wandering if there's any advantage too??
I've read about these circuit sand came across one today on a periodic (eicr) in a kitchen the spark has taken a 6mm into a 45a isolator and run a ring out on the load side to all the appliances. 60898 b32 rcd protected. In good condition to. Suppose it's not illegal it's out there!! rang the...
I've just been flicking through the regs to do some cable calcs for a job and noticed that a 4mm 2 core cable installed using method B (under floors etc) has a capacity of 30A. However it is ok to connect to a 32A MCB for a radial socket circuit. Don't know if its just me missing something...
As the title, the internal is boarded and skimmed over, i cant see a single rafter, anyone know a tried and tested fool proof method of locating the rafters externally.
Hi guys,
What plug in equipment, if any would show a dead short when doing an ir test?
I have the line and neutral connected together and testing between that and the earth bar.
The circuit was energised and working fine on arrival (doing an eicr) so it cant be an actual dead short or the mcb...
Done another practice EICR form this week, and i'm a bit stumped on the reference method box on the schedule of circuits.
Is it acceptable to write LIM in the box, as i have listed in the limitations box that i am not removing floor boards/inspecting cables in concealed locations. So how could...
