Morning fellas. Having bought my Megger 1730 from Test Meter in October 2012 i was wondering whether i should calibrate it in October 2013 or in July 2013 as that is the 'Date Tested' on the Megger certificate that came with unit? My mind is saying July just keep the records straight but i am...

I'm looking to treat myself to a new multi function tester, as well as clamp meters. At this stage, it's either going to be a Megger MFT1730 or an equivalent Fluke, and I am trying to find out which is the best brand with regards to who makes the best package...
Just managed to bag myself a great deal on a second hand mft 1552, Won it for £300 on ebay although no calibration cert, every other test lead is included in the sale plus the charging unit and batteries. The guy told me that getting the unit calibrated is expensive and to register myself...

Not sure if I should go for something that can interface with Bluetooth or software as I am just starting out - can...

At the college I attend they have just updated all of they're testers from Megger 1552's to Megger 1730's
Running through the test sequence the other day i noticed that all of the loop settings are different to the previous ones on the 1552
I asked the tutor but didn't really grasp what he was...
Does anyone know for sure that a new MFT does not need calibrating until 12 months after it is brought into service. Some suppliers seem to want to charge for a calibration certificate when it is brand new.
Looking to buy a new tester and was just wondering is there much difference between the 1552/1553 and the 1720/1730? I know that the higher spec one has the Bluetooth function but am I as well buying the older version as I plan to buy 2nd hand? Cheers
