Borrowed someones megger 1552 today to megger an alternator @ 1kv and check windings.
now keeps showing battery symbol on IR test
It was showing fuse symbol as well earlier but not now.
Fuse is not blown (checked with fluke) and new batts reading 12V
anyone had similar - looked through...
Ok, so twice this week my MFT has reported no earth - this is obviously due to a poor connection to the connector - so has anyone had the same? Has anyone taken theirs apart?
I'd rather not send it to Metrel and not have it for a week minimum!

Has anyone experienced issues with continuity readings fluctuating on a Megger 1730 MFT when the test leads rotate/move in the instrument as is the unavoidable condition when actually using the tester?
I can null the leads but thereafter the reading with the leads connected to each other can...

I currently use a Megger MFT1552 but am starting to think that it is beginnng to show its age and that I should invest in a new tester.
I am open to suggestions as to what I should buy. Anybody got any thoughts? I want something robust and easy to use.

Currrent pair of Kewtechs (KT45 and KT62) in need of calibration, and one in need of repair, so probably more cost effective to buy something a bit more recent. Worth a try here before ebay.
I'm not set on a particular brand but must have decent length calibration and be in full working order...
