We do mainly industrial and commercial work with a small bit of (landlord) residential.
After some recent negative comments from potential customers regarding NICEIC electricians I was thinking of jumping ship to ECA or Napit.
OK I know ECA are now the same as NIC but there name doesn't seem...
Westarted an electrical contracting company and the end of 2017 our test of the business. It went well and we used 2 electricians who are NAPIT approved.
Now this year we are going for company certification via NAPIT, potentially, but this means that everyone who works for us as a contractor...
An incompetent builder with Napit logo:
No certs
No RCD protection on a number of modified circuits
Mixing different makes of smoke alarms
Cable runs upstairs not in zones with no additional protection
No grommets in back boxes
Fused spur directly behind and above hob
Lengthy spur off ring...
I am really struggling with the section 7 of the Napit Installation Cert.
The reason is because the demo forms I have filled in during the course and examples elsewhere all seem to contradict eachother and it appears many people can't agree either. So by going through forums and looking at...
I am currently dealing with napit on behalf of a customer.
She had a new cu installed several months ago by a napit registered electrician. She was charged £600. When I arrived to carry out some minor works we found several problems. The new cu was full of holes. Not labelled up. Bus bar cover...
Hi guys, just thought I'd say hello.
I've just done my Part P so that i can safely make alterations to our circuits at work, should be registering with Napit as soon as i get my cirtificate.
Then I'll be buying some kit, so far I'm set on a Kewtech K63 meter unless i can be persuaded...
I want to get competent within BS5266 (I think!) i.e. fire alarms and emergency lighting. I am thinking of doing the Napit course. Any opinions on the best way forward on this, or Napit course?
Hello guys
I am really conflict as to who I should go with as i am looking to go it alone this year.
Napit are cheaper and less fuss - however the brand is not recognized that well
Napit appear to be allot easier to start off with because they only want to view one job, they also seem...

Has anyone else had this demand?
NAPIT are now attempting to insist that we need to go through our records of hundreds of installs since 2010 and fully account for a 15% discrepency between the number of MCS certs issued and the number of building regulations notified via NAPIT.
The vast...
Hi all, I will be doing a kitchen rewire in a domestic house which i want to use for my Napit inspection. Existing consumer unit has not enough spare ways for the new circuits to be installed for the new kitchen and its a bit untidy. So i will be adding an additional 10 way consumer unit with...
Thinking of getting MCS certified?
The Microgeneration Certification Scheme aka MCS have now published their own QMS, so i guess if you follow it you should be compliant. (well maybe !)
Microgeneration Certification Scheme - QMS Templates -...
If I have a JIB gold card, why do I need to join NICEIC, ECA, NAPIT etc?
As I understand things NIC protect your customers, ECA protect you, NAPIT are a collection of Domestic Installers, Electricians and even Professional Inspectors and Testers, having moved on but not sticking to what it...
Had my first NAPIT assessment today. He came and looked at a rewire I've recently done and went through all my paperwork back at my office. He was very thorough contrary to all the bad mouthing NAPIT get. It was no walk in the park by any means, checked everything. However, also very helpful...
